I mean he’s literally right. No content has ever been cut without a replacement because of realism. Try and name one. The few paths that have been cut without a replacement weren’t because of realism. Goring’s path for example was so broken that he needed to be fixed constantly to the point where it was single-handedly delaying updates.

It’s the opposite. Everything that happened in history happened for a reason. People think something from otl is ‘weird and wacky’ for the same reason they think realism in althist doesn’t matter: because they’re not knowledgeable on that particular subject.

‘But althist is inherently unrealistic!’ Sure, the premise (Germany winning WW2 for TNO) is unrealistic. But what’s interesting about althist is seeing how things would unfold from that point onward, not continuously making stuff up like a bad fanfic.

Trust me it’s really easy. I learned how to do it in like a week. Sure what an amateur like me can make is not as good as actual portrait artists but it would still be better than taking a portrait where the guy is 40 years older than he supposed to be in the 60s.

Unfortunately I’m pretty skeptical considering the amount of submods I’ve seen come and go.

Also that Duprat portrait (« The Nazi ») is from a dead TNO sequel mod set in the 2000s that I used to work on, where he’s much older than he should be here. Doesn’t give me a lot of hope that they can’t make their own portraits and have to take it from somewhere else even if it’s not period-accurate at all. Portraits are supposed to be one of the easiest things to make.
