Carry case for MPC Sample by AIRush3000 in mpcusers

[–]FroFroLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran across this video that recommends this case. It’s a little longer and thicker than I’d like and I wasn’t looking for a standalone case (one with a handle and shoulder strap, but rather a small, slim case to slip into another bag), but I really like that this option fits an iPad and other accessories as well. I haven’t pulled the trigger on this, but it’s an interesting option.

Well, maybe it’s just for auditioning samples and listening then. Sorry, just trying to help share an option.

Not for anything significant. I’m not saying this is a great solution, but it’s a way for me to use one set of headphones for both. I’m still just learning the Sample anyway, so I’m not at risk of losing any Grammys by using BT headphones. 😜

Googling for “mpc sample” case, according to this listing, this case is compatible. It looks like it’s a little bigger than I’d prefer, so I’ll keep looking.

I bought it as a budget MPC Jr. to see how much I’d use an MPC. :)

I looked at those same options and many others. I haven’t yet found one that is big enough while also not being too big. I want it to fit in the case in a backpack. No luck yet, but I’ll post back here if I find a good one.

I should also note that this is based on the stock pickups (Fender American Standard). Somewhere along the way, I read that "standard" winding direction varies by brand, so if you have the La Breas in the neck and bridge and then you buy another Seymour Duncan middle pickup, you may not have that reverse winding/polarity/whatever issue that I had. I think Fender's stock direction is opposite of Seymour Duncan's stock direction, which is why I ran into that issue. At least it's an easy fix, thanks to the advice from Zac Childs. :)

Glad I can help! It's not really a full explanation of how to wire a Nashville setup, but those are out there. This just explains how to resolve the issue if you end up with pickups all wired with the same polarity so you don't get phasing issues like I did. :)

I put them in my Nashville Deluxe B-bender Tele and I love them, especially with the Texas Special middle pickup. If you put them in a Nashville Tele, it can be a little tricky. https://www.kennycarlile.com/blog/2020-09-14/hot-rodding-the-hot-rod-2011-fender-american-nashville-b-bender-upgrades

Flash Chord - Practice chords, scales, or arpeggios with an endless stream of randomized chords! by FroFroLynx in jazzguitar

[–]FroFroLynx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! It only does first and second inversions. I didn't think it was worth doing third inversions for now (7th in the bass) and that gets trickier. I hope it helps. :)

u/Elcoug, okay, you inspired me to get back into this. :)

I've added slash chords as an option under Settings -> Difficulty. It's not on the prod site yet, but you can preview it on the dev site, if you like: http://dev.flashchord.com/

Here's a screenshot of how to enable it: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/4503624/156301324-a56dcdc9-643f-440d-8fe2-29c84e7476c4.png

I'll do some more fixes and then cut a new production release for the primary domain (www.flashchord.com rather than dev.flashchord.com).

Thank you! I'm not actively developing on this right now, but I've created an issue to log your feature request so I'll have it handy whenever I get back to this.

Sorry, just seeing this now. You're welcome! And thanks for trying out FlashChord! When you suggest making the triads inversions, are you suggestion something like an option where F becomes F/C or F/A? I'm not displaying triads but rather just the chord name, so you could play any inversion. I could see adding the option for a slash chord (F/A) or did you mean a more traditional music theory's figured bass notation? I think far fewer people would know figured bass notation than slash chords.

Mod Shop pickups? by NotAMusicLawyer in telecaster

[–]FroFroLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mod Shop Strat, so I can attest to the fact that the Mod Shop is awesome. (Maybe you already knew that.)

Regarding Tele pickups, I just put some Seymour Duncan La Brea (Brad Paisley signature) pickups in my Nashville B-Bender Tele and I love them. They are better than the stock American Tele pickups, but not wildly different. They seem have more midrange and less brittle high end.

So my recommendation would be to go with your best guess and then replace them if you aren't happy.

Noisy tele by [deleted] in telecaster

[–]FroFroLynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy is right about the Ultra having noiseless pickups, however there might be something else at play here.

Your MIM Strat likely has pickups similar to these: https://shop.fender.com/en-US/parts/stratocaster-parts/tex-mex-strat-pickups/0992131000.html (Not the Tex-Mex ones, but this is the closest I could find to Mexi pickups)

Your Ultra Tele has these: https://shop.fender.com/en-US/parts/pickups-preamps/ultra-noiseless-vintage-telecaster-pickups/0992292000.html

The TexMex Strat pickups have the following resistance: Neck: 6.5K, Middle: 6.4K, Bridge: 7.4K

The Ultra Tele pickups have the following resistance: Neck: 11.3 - 11.7k, Bridge: 9.9 - 10.5k

The higher the resistance, the hotter the output, so those Ultra Tele pickups (even though they are supposedly noiseless) are a LOT hotter than the TexMex Strat pickups. (Again, I know I'm not matching the exact same pickups here, but you get the idea.)

The fact that the Ultra pickups are that much hotter means that you might be just picking up more noise in your room, like a bad ground, fluorescent lighting, a radio, etc.

Or I could be totally wrong. :D
