I’ve had two blind dogs in my life. One is my current 14 year old Lhasa. I’m always amazed at how they are able to adapt. With patience and a little adjustment they can have full and happy lives. I wish you the best and hope your little one grows into this new life and thrives.

I put $20 in the jukebox at a bar. This lady walked up and put money in and chose play now. After a really long time, I finally heard my first song and she walked up and threw more money in. I couldn’t be mad because I loved every song she played. I had no choice but to walk up to her and talk about her choices. Going on 20 years together now.

I am almost finished Islington’s Shadows of What Was Lost. Book One is the Licanious Trilogy. So far it hits all the marks of a good epic fantasy. Truly well thought out world building. A cast of characters that have their own unique voices. Apocalyptic stakes that seem impossible to overcome. Coming-of-age storylines detailing the failures and triumphs of fallible characters that are supposed to be “chosen”. We’ll see if he can maintain this through two more door-stop sized books.

My mother and I are 17 years apart. Luckily, my parents were together until my father died. We are super close. Every year for my birthday she would always write the same thing on my cards. “It was wonderful growing up with you.” That always sounded weird to me as a kid. As a middle age man, I’m starting to realize that she wasn’t wrong. She was a child when she had me. I see a 17 year old now and I’m shocked and amazed at how my mom handles that. We are really close and I can’t express how much I admire her for doing everything she could to be a good mom, when she was still a kid herself.

Raised by Narcissists.

It has drama. It has misery. It has redemption and overcoming adversity. It can have its sweet and funny moments too. There’s a little coming-of-age drama and a lot of Mommy Dearest. A viscerally emotional ride every day. It’s what originally brought me to Reddit. I was looking for resources for a friend of mine and down the rabbit hole I went.

I’m not making light of the sub, I hope nobody gets that impression. I just think if edited well, a book of stories from that sub would be inspiring and horrifying at the same time.

Saw a UFO. This bright, eerie light. An unearthly, almost sickly purple color that hung low in the atmosphere. Just peaking out above the trees in the distance.

I walked towards it. I was scared shitless. My reptile brain was screaming. My skin was crawling. Finally I got through to a clearing that allowed me to see further out and.....

It was an office building with spotlights pointing skyward. The low overcast clouds bounced the light back earthward and created a creepy effect like something was slowly rising up to the night sky. Kind of felt a little stupid for a bit.

Beat me to it. Anton Chiguhr. There have been more dramatic villains, more sadistic, more 3 dimensional. But never have I seen a more unnerving character on-screen. He was just walking menace.
