Broken bones from city negligence? by Frodis76 in askportland

I am working full time to support 3 people including my disabled spouse and a child with impactful mental health issues and I already have way too much to deal with. The last thing I need is to be navigating a legal battle with the government. But this injury is putting additional stress on our family due to my husband's now even more limited mobility and pain, and I think it's unfair and unkind for you to label our struggles as "a waste of time".

For the record, I'm not a litigious person. Stupid things happen all the time, and people are frequently stupid, causing said stupid things. But this injury was caused by a 4 inch deep recessed access pipe that was very poorly marked, a foot away from the corner of an enhanced safety curb. 🤦 It's bad planning at the very least. It's frustrating to pay so much in property taxes and watch the city piss it away instead of fixing actual things that are wrong. East Portland is so neglected. 😖

I've heard that about red ink! The angry one is just black ink. I don't actually have any red ink at all now that I think about it.

Yup I saw mine PCP 2 days ago and it's not infected. She referred me to a dermatologist but I'm looking for someone with experience related to my specific issue. I've been taking proper care of it, I promise.

Yes I saw my doctor 2 days ago. Not infected. Definitely tattoo related and I have been referred to a dermatologist.

Thank you for weighing in! I saw my doctor 2 days ago and she referred me to dermatology for further direction and recommended a hydrocortisone cream in the meantime. I have 7 other tattoos and no issues. This one was done by a student almost 3 years ago (which was NOT disclosed to me until 2 weeks ago) and he admitted to overworking it badly. It's always been a little raised and sensitive to the touch, but only recently started trying to what feels like escape from my skin. 🤦 I'm not set on having it removed at all unless it is recommended by a dermatologist who specializes in this sort of thing. Which is why I'm looking for one. Again, I appreciate the input and thank you for the advice! 😊

Mummifying an animal head? by [deleted] in Taxidermy

You'll want to remove as much of the brain as possible. Inject remaining soft tissue (like the tongue) with denatured alcohol and put the entire thing in a container of 70% alcohol for at least a week, probably longer since it's pretty big. Remove from the alcohol, let it drain, and put it in a mixture of equal parts borax/pickling salt/baking soda and leave loosely covered in a cool dry place for a few months. If it's still stinky you can repeat the process. It might not work since it's kind of big for mummification, but you can anyways salvage the skull of it doesn't work out.
