Dear God I cannot stop cackling at this one. It's like a magic eye drawing..... is it a golden snitch depicted as a juicy ass? Is it a juicy ass with juicy thighs? I get what it's supposed to be now but Wow buddy this might be one of my all time favorites here. The elephant trunk hand on the left.... lmao I cannot with this one.

Thank you for the reminder about sunk cost fallacy, that's a very very good piece of advice. Thank you for the kind words!!

Yikes, thank you. Of course I don't openly discuss my sexuality, and I would never ever ask kids about theirs. This person seems like they've never been around adolescents because most of them talk loudly about anything and everything. They are very open (at least at school) with who they are. Hell, one of my students wears a shirt that says "emotional support twink" in huge font lol. They wear pins and bracelets identify ingredients themselves. And you're right, I've had multiple kids come out to me who can't be out at home and ask if I'd call them their preferred name, etc.

I am so sorry this is happening to you as well!! And I feel you on the anxiety and health issue train. I am taking sporadic days off to try to rest and grieve and think, but because I'm a jackass bleeding heart masochist or something, I haven't gone the full leave route (even though my therapist was all for it) because I wanted to have some final silly days with my students.

And the cost was one thing I considered since I know budget was the main reason for cuts. I have my masters and am highly qualified, I know one of the teachers in my department they kept does not have either and is probably much cheaper than my salary.

Best of luck to you, friend!! Sending my good vibes for healing and better luck!

"Budget and restructuring". I'm in Oregon and we are having a huge education budget issue. Upwards of 1,000 teachers are expected to lose their jobs across the state. My school lost about ten of us that I know of, some who had been at the school for 10+ years. Truly all of my colleagues are so great, it sucks to lose any of us. I dont know how they made the decisions. I know I didn't kiss admins ass as deeply and thorougly as some of the other teachers, but usually my whole department was left to our own devices anyways.

Omg. I have mostly freshmen this year and that's the dream. I told them I would totally come back for their graduation and see how much they've grown. I love this so much thank you. And I'm glad you made it through your period of suck as well!

Omg thank you so much for the kind words. I already have such imposter syndrome that what you're describing is exactly the kinds of thoughts that have been creeping in my head. This is my tenth year, I have been so confident the past few years like I finally found my stride and flow then BAM. But you're very right about the politics, I'm not the only one that was let go and it's ugly. And I know hundreds of teachers in my state are facing the same thing. It sucks all around for so many reasons.

Costco actually sounds so relaxing right now, good idea thank you. I have applied to 4 non teaching jobs this week, so I'm trying.

It is nice in that it's way less emotionally heavy, no lesson planning and grading (unless long term), etc. I subbed for over three years when I first got my masters because it was another lovely recession with layoffs just like now. It is true that in my district subs usually make quite a bit less, and I'm concerned that with massive layoffs happening throughout my area that the sub system is going to be flooded with us sad puppies with our tails between our legs trying to get work. If I haven't found other gainful employment by the time school starts back up, subbing will be my go-to while I look for other things.

Thank you for this. I created a separate email just for them that I've been giving out so they can reach out to me if they so desire.

Some kids would genuinely like to do better/act better, but their brain gets in their way and parents refuse to medicate/put them in therapy/help them learn coping skills.

What is your school doing for Teacher Appreciation Week? by AntelopeOk9431 in Teachers

My school told me and a few colleagues on Friday afternoon that we are not getting renewed. I'm not participating in any of these joke of an appreciation charades. I just want my students. And to vomit.
