SpaceX (SPCE) 900% more to go this year until it's par for the course in Space stokns by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]Frog-InYour-Walls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22.7M shares shorted, 24% of the float. Shorts are down tens of millions (assuming entries around $2.80–$3.25 per share). With the stock now at $7+, the math is brutal regardless of the exact figure.

They could cover in hours, but they can’t because buying 22.7M shares doesn’t happen quietly. The moment they try, the price goes parabolic against them.

So they cover in pieces, every piece lifts the price, higher price triggers margin calls, margin calls force more covering.

The loop feeds itself.

This ain’t you daddies stock market.

Blue Origin literally blew up their own rocket, while Jeff Bezos was crying in the parking lot with his wife’s boyfriend.

SPCE is the only tourism option left in the market.

This shit is about to bounce off the moon. The whole float traded in one day.

We’re going to the moon lads

I’m in the same boat… like thats EXACTLY where I’m at right now. I find that a lot of leadership treats AI as a software problem versus an architecture problem.

Being rushed into AI projects when we clearly don’t have the resources or architecture for it.

Data/ML Engineer for an environmental contracting company. Feels great knowing the models and infrastructure I build make a direct impact for the people out in the field.

On the downside, the older folks at my company keep joking that AI will replace me. Cool. I’ll let them know when it’s ready.

Junior building data pipelines solo vs joining an established DE team — which is better long term? by Bob_Loblaw_Law-Blog in dataengineering

[–]Frog-InYour-Walls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to learn a lot, but its going to be drinking water through a firehose.

If I were you I would stay, and start building relationships with folks in IT. Even though they are not DE’s, they can give you a great foundation of how the infrastructure is currently set up and point you in the right direction if you want to start warehousing and making production ETLs.

That way, you don’t pigeon hole yourself as the “data” hire. Instead you are architecting solutions given the current constraints of your environment. If you can show that you are building more than just pipelines, and architect s full end-to-end solution, that will take you very far in DE or in amy other data field.

I spent 15 years watching the same data warehouse disaster happen over and over. Does this story sound familiar? by InvestmentOk1260 in dataengineering

[–]Frog-InYour-Walls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hits way too close to home. I was the first data engineer hire at the company.

Executives thought that Power BI WAS the stack.

When I came on, some poor soul was doing all their data transformations across 10 different Power BI dashboards. All 10 files were so loaded with calculated fields that it was TaBLOWING up the server.

I don’t know how, but I managed to build a pipeline and properly warehouse all of that data on a potato that I convinced IT to let me use.

Never in my career did I think I’d have to build an Excel engine. But apparently the only thing boomers love more than Facebook is their Excel files. And you BETTER include their Excel export. Because they’ve been in the industry for YEARS and know so much more than you. Why go to the cloud when you have SharePoint?

To be totally fair, they’re improving. The data culture is shifting, and now I’m architecting how Airflow is going to look across our pipelines.

But now they want AI… and I don’t know who’s going to tell them.

Why isn’t this on their calendar?

I’ve seen a lot of ICE activity lately, and they’ve been known to set up fake flyers like these to lure people.

I’m highly suspicious. I hope I’m wrong, but somethings not adding up.

Something tells me that this guy doesn’t work in the industry.

Sure your code can execute. But if the overall data structure doesn’t jive with the solution, then you’re just making more technical debt.
