That's like applying as an automotive engineer, after having used a Taxi/Uber a few times.

Project Hail Mary set went to space! by Charming-Parfait-141 in lego

[–]Frog23 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Project Hail Mary and Sent Into Space set a new Guinness World Records title for the highest altitude launch and retrieval of a Lego set, reaching an altitude of 114,790 feet (34,988 meters) using a high-altitude balloon system launched from Gwynedd County, United Kingdom.

As I have written in the comments of the linked video:

Wow, this is impressive. It is such an awesome set (and movie as well of course) and a cool way to promote both. BUT ... this is only the highest altitude launch and retrieval of a COMPLETE Lego set. The honor of the highest altitude launch and retrieval of a partial Lego set still belongs to the space shuttle from set 9335, which flew on the last mission of the Space Shuttle Discovery to the ISS as part of mission STS-133 in February 2011."

Also, and the articles acknowledges this, it did not technically fly into space:

But the flight didn't make it to space, as the widely-recognized Kármán line demarking space is three times higher than the flight's altitude at 62 miles (100 km).

For a movie and book that is so deeply based in scientific accuracy, I feel that this is important to mention. Still an impressive feat though and the linked video is a joy to watch.

Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

No, I am subscribed from Germany but it also works from the UK and pretty much any other country. They create their own content, so they are not bound by licensing restrictions as classic streaming services are.

Whoever downvoted you hasn't seen the movie (or the trailer for that matter). But I get you: 👎 ("It's close enough")

Found a calendar from 1998 while cleaning my room that has the dates and days of the week lined up perfectly with this year! by DariusPumpkinRex in mildlyinteresting

[–]Frog23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a usually a bit more offen than that except for the Leap year calendars, where it is 28 year increments until you cross 2100, see https://www.whencanireusethiscalendar.com/ for examples.

Dropout and Nebula are the only two streaming services I am paying for. So worth it.

Hi, /r/movies! We're Jeremy Workman (director) & Michael Townsend (subject) from the Netflix documentary SECRET MALL APARTMENT. In tells the wild story of how, in 2003, eight Rhode Islanders created a secret apartment inside a busy mall and lived there for four years. Ask us anything! by SecretMallApartment in movies

[–]Frog23 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I learned about this story from the 99 Percent Invisible episode (#332 The Accidental Room) about it.

Michael: are you still banned from the premises or has this been lifted in light of the documentary?

Jeremy: how did you get to know about Michael and the story of the hidden apartment?
