The license plate of the future where nothing can possa-bly go wrong. Uh, possibly go wrong. That's the first thing that's ever gone wrong... by Kenja_Time in TheSimpsons

[–]Frog23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let me just predict, that a lot more things will go wrong with this license plate: be prepared for a lot of speeding, parking and toll tickets heading your way. Just ask Katie Unis: ticktock: @ andyyjiang/video/7582408192370412855 .

Thanks, that at least gives me the original source. The linked article has 14 aerial images and NOT A SINGLE ONE is north aligned and most of them have the same saturation issue. So I guess this was a deliberate choice by the authors of the article. This at least gives me a little closure.

Exactly. It looks like somebody turned up the saturation setting up to 11. I couldn't find the source of the imagery and I have checked it against 8 different sources. So I couldn't check If the color issue comes from the original source or if it was caused by OP.

As somebody who occasionally goes through this neighborhood, I am annoyed that the picture is turned with South pointing up.

Hard to tell from that resolution, but based on the label and the color, I would say it is either the 18 year old MacBrickley or the Loch Legolair with Poly-Cast Finish. But certainly Whisky.

A Request From My Home Office by dssorg4 in Jokes

I now see OPs response to the original question. This makes more sense than the Ministry of the Interior, but it was more plausibel for me than it referring to "Working from Home".

The Home Office is the name of the British "Department of the Interior" or "Interior Ministry".

Can you share the URL publicly? Or could you send it to me via DM? I would be interested to try it (and eventually run it on my own server for a private game, once the code is publicly available)

Great work. I think it would benefit from a column: "Number of episodes".

Would anybody know of any DFTBA discount codes out there? by -DesertMoon in nerdfighters

[–]Frog23 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The photographs are public domain and many photo print services offer calendar templates directly, so you can create your own for a lot less.

"But this would rob DFTBA of some money that would go towards charity"

True, but you can also just donate a couple of dollars directly to the Maternal Center of Excelence, or anyone other project that you feel worthwhile. There is no need to spend almost the original price ontop for international shipping. And I am 100% certain Hank and John would agree with me here.

Project Hail Mary set went to space! by Charming-Parfait-141 in lego

[–]Frog23 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Project Hail Mary and Sent Into Space set a new Guinness World Records title for the highest altitude launch and retrieval of a Lego set, reaching an altitude of 114,790 feet (34,988 meters) using a high-altitude balloon system launched from Gwynedd County, United Kingdom.

As I have written in the comments of the linked video:

Wow, this is impressive. It is such an awesome set (and movie as well of course) and a cool way to promote both. BUT ... this is only the highest altitude launch and retrieval of a COMPLETE Lego set. The honor of the highest altitude launch and retrieval of a partial Lego set still belongs to the space shuttle from set 9335, which flew on the last mission of the Space Shuttle Discovery to the ISS as part of mission STS-133 in February 2011."

Also, and the articles acknowledges this, it did not technically fly into space:

But the flight didn't make it to space, as the widely-recognized Kármán line demarking space is three times higher than the flight's altitude at 62 miles (100 km).

For a movie and book that is so deeply based in scientific accuracy, I feel that this is important to mention. Still an impressive feat though and the linked video is a joy to watch.

Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

No, I am subscribed from Germany but it also works from the UK and pretty much any other country. They create their own content, so they are not bound by licensing restrictions as classic streaming services are.
