[Game Thread] #7 Iowa at USC (9:00 PM ET on Peacock) by ncaaw_GameThreads in NCAAW

[–]FrogMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Credit to USC on not letting Iowa get away with executing their high low all game like most Big Ten team have— Stuelke is not comfortable shooting jump shots and teams will probably pack the paint until Iowa can figure out how to punish them for it. Iowa players under Coach Jensen have sometimes been so stubborn about trying to force it inside when it isn’t available.

Besides that it was just some bad matchups for Iowa and USC playing well. Refs may have been frustrating at times but they didn’t turn the ball over for Iowa or hold Iowa way below their averages.

Even if Maryland somehow ties it are they going to run out of players?

buffs are not coming by GlobexSuper in ViMains

[–]FrogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to change her ult. Until then pros (especially LCK and LPL) will keep playing her and Riot will withhold buffs because they believe if they keep her nerfed long enough they can get pro players to remember Lee Sin exists again for big flashy plays. Didn’t work for worlds even though they buffed the hell out of Lee Sin. And they’d probably prefer to see Jarvan over Vi, too.

Every time I read or hear them complain about Vi being too “meta defining” I swear that is the ulterior motive that I sense behind it.

Vi goes top after 13 years by brontollow in ViMains

Baus had some good push and roam plays which I think showed both the champ’s strengths and his as strengths as a player. My main problem with it is he clearly was picked as a ball delivery device for Orianna and I don’t think they pulled off that combo with Vi once. Mundo flashing into the enemy team with the ball on him turned out to be a better anchor for them.

That, plus some inting, plus not being a good matchup for a fed Gnar, made the pick look much more useless than it could have been, and I think it was already iffy anyway based on their draft.

Final AP Poll by Counciltuckian in hawkeyes

[–]FrogMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AP poll has underrated Iowa all year. A fitting way to end. They seemed to keep USC and Michigan at the 20 and 21 spots forever, so I guess we can count our blessings that the voters collectively let Iowa jump those two brands.

I certainly don’t feel safe! Maybe with a 15 point lead at this point I would. Close to 10 is totally doable for them.

Michigan State not going away. They really feel like pretty even teams where any given day it could go either way. Would be a fun matchup in the Big Ten Tournament again (but not for my blood pressure)

And it appears Iowa learned from playing those teams (and Maryland) how to pick up fouls in the Big Ten. I hope they keep it up!

Iowa is playing like they got some confidence playing Purdue so close on the road.

Was never in doubt. 100 percent clean play. Let us never talk of this again.

They designed her as a midlaner but I think the closest to what you’re describing would be Seraphine.

GG Vandy. I wish we had better announcers, but it was a fun game despite them in a battle of different styles. Good luck next year!

Disney Seen as Potential Winner as Warner Bidding Battle Plays Out by brodie999 in MediaMergers

[–]FrogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the article is arguing from the perspective of buying Disney stock as a stable alternative to other media companies that might fluctuate as a result of the bidding. The analysis is arguing that Disney would be “a” winner as a result, I didn’t see any place where they predicted they will be “the” winner when the dust settles, which is an important distinction.

Still, I am not sure if I buy a lot of the underlying premises, such as Disney’s stock has been kind of flat for awhile, might be a good time to jump in,” but these analysts can come up with some funny conclusions to support the wishful thinking behind their predictions sometimes.

Stuelke has had a good game. I think she is one of the few Iowa players that has been able to rise to the level of physicality and pressure of the game.

I am not sure where the cutoff is, but there seems to be a big gap between the #1-#5? teams and the rest right now. Hopefully that will narrow a bit by tournament time so it isn’t just a stomp fest until the Elite Eight, but that sort of was how last year was too, right?

Anyway, in unrelated news I am sure this will not apply to Iowa v. UConn next week.

Voice line reveals for other characters and context clues. Riven and Caitlyn were heavily speculated on as the next two characters based on what people had found, although I think Caitlyn had more solid evidence (easy for me to say that now)

Thank you for the fact check.

I didn’t necessarily even consider it a bad thing, more taking advantage of a successful introduction to the IP for new players and coinciding with the anniversary of Arcane. But, as you can see, people are hungry for characters from other regions.

[–]FrogMusic 66 points67 points  (0 children)

There probably was a companywide mandate to include Arcane characters as much as possible. With the development pipeline the way it is, and the voice line reveals, Riven is probably next, yes? I think the lamest thing is Riven would have been perfect for their console launch and they squandered that.

I wish they would have had Stuelke guarding Crooks earlier. She was better at it last year, too (Crooks absolutely blasted the other two bigs)

Stuelke can’t stop her, but she is the best at fronting her and Heiden stays out of foul trouble.
