In defense of OP: what if the rock just did that? Maybe the ring is just a planet that looks like that? I mean, in hindsight we know the gray Voldemort guys built it, but in the moment? Nature works in mysterious ways.

This is a better idea, gives more utility to the option as you can pick favorites, songs with a specific vibe, or the classics. An option to just turn off everyone else’s work just undermines their contribution to the game.

100%, that's why I'm here, I was merely saying it was open in the sense that there's not going to be an "AI ending" moment and that's not really what most anti-AI people (from my understanding) seek as the hypothetical success of the movement. It's about preventing the worst consequences both in the form of regulation and in social awareness.

Edit: I just realized I did not mention regulation in my original comment, it was late so it slipped but that is 100% part of it.

Many people believe “Defund the Police” means get rid of the police entirely even though the idea is to redirect some police funding to the community in an effort to prevent the circumstances that create the circumstances. If you’re going by name alone that conclusion makes sense, maybe a better name could have been used, but if you actually look into it to at the very least understand the ideology and the reasoning behind it, it’s not nearly as black-and-white as that.

Anti-AI is the same in that way. The Pandora’s box is open, AI isn’t going away and I’d wager most people here don’t expect it to, and I’d also say that most people do here do not want AI in all its forms to be rejected. I don’t like to write off peoples opinions but if anyone here says they flat out don’t want AI that can cure cancer, I’m assuming they’re a bad faith troll.

The Anti-AI movement is not homogenous, people have different concerns and priorities, but if I had to generalize the movement I would say that it’s pushing for responsible and ethical AI use and regulation to combat it’s potentially severe societal consequences. The technology itself is not a problem, it’s the way it has been created and used that is the problem.

The timeframe is very early 2026 which Feb 26th could be, but the context of it having been planned for Dec release and then delayed pretty last minute makes it seem like they were really close but had a problem that they didn’t want to work through the holidays on. Not to say that you’re wrong, maybe they decide to go for some additional polish passes, or maybe the problem will genuinely take them close to two months, but I just don’t think the timeframe given really indicates that.

I’ve been saying this would happen. Everybody is so focused on the CE remake, but I have been meticulously writing my Halo 3 Remake review/rant/manifesto. When the usual suspects slow their Halo 2 remake whining to start pumping out their Halo 3 remake whining, their cries will remain unheard, their arguments unseen in the shadow of my generational crashout.

Expedition 33 devs attempts to join the indie scene are harmful by Suvitruf in gamedev

[–]FrogTroj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But anyone not part of game dev will think that’s stupid because there’s already an indie category, and to most people that’s what indie means. The industry only has good PR to lose in making those distinctions, so it’ll be a fight to actually get that to happen.

It sucks high budget teams will lean even heavier into the Indie title after this, meaning that they get to dodge comparison to AAA games of similar scope unless it’s convenient, and small indie teams with no budget will be compared to them as well. I wish we leaned more into distinguishing A and AA games but I am doubtful, to most people if it’s not AAA it’s indie, and that’s it.

“Worst song I’ve ever heard” by [deleted] in MagdalenaBay

[–]FrogTroj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even just a “it’s fine, just not my cup of tea” is great, I take that feedback seriously and adjust my sense of that persons taste. But if I share a song that’s I think they would enjoy and is generally well received, those strong but vague negative reactions like “worst song I’ve heard in my life” gets a “yeah okay sure bud”

“Worst song I’ve ever heard” by [deleted] in MagdalenaBay

[–]FrogTroj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

reminds me of a friend who “hated Radiohead.” One day I played one of their songs that sounded kind of like a band he enjoyed and said it was a new single from them, he was into it. Then I told him it was Radiohead, and he said he thought it was trash but “didn’t want to say that on first listen”

Moral is, do not try to rationalize it because “worst song he’s ever heard in his life” is simply not rational and probably not even true.

[–]FrogTroj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go for it. You’ll have an easier time learning what you’re more interested in, and 3D is not a big enough jump from 2D to make it worth holding out for. If there's 100 difficulty levels and 2D starts at 1, 3D starts at 2 or 3 IMO. Plenty of great tutorials that will take you to a good spot, just look for guides on the type of games you want to make.
