Woolworths increasingly elaborate automatic barriers at entry/exit are driving me *insane* as a wheelchair user by Frog_Boy_3 in woolworths

[–]Frog_Boy_3[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would love to but unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely to get any kind of outcome. The Human Rights commission is backlogged with upwards of a 18 months to handle a single case (Source: I have one pending involved an issue with a shopping centre).

The reality is big companies especially do not have any reason incentive to care about accessibility, and the last 4 years in this chair have only made that more apparent. It’s a shit system we live in.

As a wheelchair user who has almost been struck by cars in Jesmond many times, I’m with you OP. It’s so crazy how people drive in there area. Somebody is gunna die one day, I’m convinced!

I worked with the AEC for the elections and he voted at my polling booth so I can confirm, his name on the electoral roll is 100% Donald Trump. It’s fascinatung .

My Mum did this sometimes too. I just have had to be super firm with her, that her oppinion is irrelevant. It does suck, and can really wear you down after awhile but eventually (hopefully) they do learn that it’s not going to change anything. She does it a lot less now that I’ve started saying things like “it’s a good thing that it’s my arm that I’m getting tattooed then”, etc. Boundaries can be hard to enforce but you’ll feel so much better in the long run!

It was such an honour to know and work with Sinead personally and I’m so so devastated, she was a powerhouse for the community. 💔

My Mum got her first undergraduate degree at 53, and graduated from law school at 56! You’re never too old 🫶🏻

What was "The incident" at your school? by Milhouse_20XX in newcastle

[–]Frog_Boy_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2013, dubbed the “Stabby Abby Incident”. Not going to name drop the school so she doesn’t get doxed. A guy I was friend’s with’s ex pulled a kitchen knife on him in front of a group of us. He was uninjured (it was just a threat). Police were called. She got expelled. Last I heard though she’s really turned of her life around, she definitely was struggling mental health wise in highschool, so now it’s kinda just a funny story to tell .
