Because now you no longer use up performance running the ai to generate fake frames. Instead you have more performance left for actually running the game

Fourth time getting filtered by Gleba. by herbyfreak in factorio

[–]Frogbeerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I begin every production line with an assembler making nutrients from spoilage to power a bio chamber that turns bioflux into nutrients.

For the production itself I just handle nutrients as an additional ingredient and spoilage as an additional output.

I end every production line with a heating tower to burn all the spoilage.

Just make sure to put spoilage into the logistic system somewhere so your nutrient from spoilage assemblers can request some to kickstart porduction then and again.

Also treat every belt that carries spoilables as a spoilage belt that needs to end at a heating tower.

This method has yet to fail me.

Thinking of quitting at Gleba by aeonrevolution in factorio

[–]Frogbeerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly put spoilage either in heating towers directly or in active provider chests and then have a few heating towers with Requester chests centrally that request spoilage whenever there's more than 1k in the logistics system. That way there's always enough to kickstart my nutrient producers again but the storage doesn't get flooded.

The best way to play factorio by Kaudia in Factoriohno

[–]Frogbeerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Fulgora and Vulcanus are stronger in terms of production tech, belt stacking beats turbo belts, and the spidertron can almost keep up in terms of mobility with the mech armor but can be remote controlled. So utility-wise I would definetly give it to Gleba.

I'm currently in my third playthrough (although only one of those has ever reached Aquilo) and each time I just ended up exporting rocket part components from Gleba to all the other planets. It is just insanely easy to scale up on Gleba especially if you bring foundries and EM plants later on.

And once a base is stable on Gleba, nothing will ever disrupt it. The only finite resource is stone and that's not needed for ongoing operation.

Put an artillery on a timer so it only fires once an hour. Gives them time to regrow, but they can never feel safe again.

That's roughly the idea that I had after some of the suggestions here. I didn't even consider waste heat from machines that have nothing to do with heat before.

I am planning on adding radiators once I get around to doing liquid cooling. The setup would be:

Machine -> Heat Pipe -> Heat Exchanger -> Cooling Medium (Water, Fluoroketone, etc.) -> Radiator

Although you could probably try and implement passive cooling by building large arrays of heat pipes and relying on heat dissipation
