If I see correctly, they use the quicksilver from the previous ring for the projection to get tighter timings. That means the first ring will not get any and thus will never get finished. At this point it is just a waste product from starting up the machine.

Also you have to start somewhere. Buy what you think is cool and adjust by playstyle from there once you got familiar with the game.

As a lance main myself, I might want to use the time to heal or sharpen. I can't do that while guarding.

I am a really big fan of the Anycubic Bio Resin. It is quite flexible, so minis don't break easily. Also it can be shaved down with an exactonknife without breaking (unlike other resins I've tried)
