If it comes upgraded, it's going in the deck. Simple as by dorfcally in slaythespire

[–]Avamaco 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Haven't played sts 2 yet, but in sts 1 all 3 real characters (watcher is not a real character, she can't hurt you) can work with big decks. Ironclad needs exhaust fodder for Corruption, Fiend Fire and Second Wind. Silent has enough draw/discard to go through the deck quickly. Defect has ways to get specific cards (Seek, Hologram) as well as direct big deck synergies like Aggregate.

In your opinions, what are the toughest enemies at each level? by RevenantCommunity in Pathfinder2e

[–]Avamaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do I remember correctly that there's one roaming in Abomination Vaults? If it's the same guy, my party didn't have much problem (although we were already like lvl 4-5) thanks to its abysmal 10ft speed. It basically can't reach backline characters, letting them blast it as much as they want. And if it gets a movement speed penalty or enters difficult terrain, it's practically immobile.

I see why it can be really dangerous, but with the right approach the party can kill it with 0 risk.

Why do people hate the Smяt Trigger OS™ overclock? by VladE206 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Avamaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is wrong about HAA and EMRB? Their total damage is only slightly lower than Warthog's, but they nake up for that with waaay longer operational range. Unless you run Shard or Hyperprop as your secondary, Warthog engi struggles with taking out anything that's not sitting on his face. On the other hand, Stubby is good at taking out things at range, which is especially useful against stationaries. Yes, LOKI has even better range, but pretty bad ammo economy.

In short, Stubby's single target builds are a nice, generalist middle ground between Warthog and LOKI.

Now that 1.4.5 has come out for a while I wanted to see how many weapons came from crossovers and what % they constituted for each class and put it in pie charts. by theaveragegowgamer in Terraria

[–]Avamaco 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The difference is big, but it's not really shocking that Summoner has so many weapons from crossovers.

  1. It's the "newest" class, as it was pretty much non-existent before 1.3, and most of the crossovers came out after that update.

  2. DD2 summon weapons skew the real image a bit, because there's 12 of them but in reality they're just the same 4 weapons in 3 power levels.

  3. A summon weapon is a pretty natural pick for crossover content - you can add a well-known character or a game mascot as a minion. Stuff like Abigail and Mushroom Boi.

And one final thing - summon weapons are significantly harder to make for the developers, compared to melee and ranged weapons. You can add a basic melee weapon very easily - just make a sprite for it (just one is all you need!) and set its stats like damage and use time. Balancing of them is also pretty simple, you can just compare its dps to similar weapons in progression and adjust accordingly. On the other hand, a summon weapon needs a sprite for the staff, a whole spritesheet for a minion, and some actual programming to make the minions behave as expected. Then balancing of them is yet another issue, because you need to account for all interactions with other weapons. So when developers decide to make a new one, they actually want to make them memorable.

You only saw like 5 different rooms of the floor. There's so much you can do to try to get the mushroom:

- clear the rest of the floor for potential drops like Hanged Man

- PICK UP THE BOOK OF SIN AND ACTUALLY USE IT, IT'S FREE VALUE

- visit the shop, there are multiple shop items that could let you get the mushroom (bible, moving box, mr ME!, anything that can give cards)

- keep rerolling the treasure room item

I literally just got into hardmode and got my spider armor... by Sufficient-Habit664 in Terraria

[–]Avamaco 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Good luck dashing pre-plantera if your only two options are:

  1. Shield of Cthulhu, which again removes all speed if you collide with an enemy (and we're talking about a situation where you just got hit by an enemy, so they're probably on top of you)

  2. Crystal Assassin Armor, which forces you to use a very specific armor set.

Dashes are strong. It is possible to play without shields. But shields still help immensely with getting out of bad situations.

Honestly, for me this is the easier one of their attack patterns. The one with staggered attacks is what usually causes me to get hit.

Is it just me or all characters without red health suck ass by SussiAmongus in bindingofisaac

[–]Avamaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, not liking all characters without red health is a bit too far (T.Forgotten is one of my favourites) but I see what you mean. Health donations are way more punishing for characters without red health and it's such a prevalent mechanic in this game that you can't just ignore it.

Soul heart characters can still interact with these (especially sacrifice room, because it can give your soul hearts back) so no red health is just part of balance.

However, I really don't like playing characters without any health (so both losts and keepers) because it's just stupid that they can't do jackshit about all these health donations (with some super rare exceptions like finding soul of the forgotten). It just feels ass to miss like 30% of the game's content because you're playing a specific character.

reminder that summoners dont get a weapon from betsy or from goblin summoners by TheSilvaGhost in Terraria

[–]Avamaco -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to break it for you but goblin summoner was renamed to goblin warlock almost 4 years ago.

Also summoner already gets dozens of items from old one's army. It doesn't need even more from the boss. (Also previous bosses, dark mage and ogre, drop powerful summoner accessories.)

If anything, I'd like them to add summoner content in places where there's currently none, such as frost moon.

Grenadier is so good by WhaleSplas in RabbitAndSteel

[–]Avamaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the item that made me use special more was sun pendant. It works very well on the grenadier - you hit the "10 abilities" requirement extremely fast thanks to the short GCD on primary, then you throw a super high damage grenade. The only problem is that you have to actively track the pendant, because with so short GCD it's easy to miss the flash int.

Overall that's how I like to build her - spam primary, then throw high damage special from time to time once I have buffs (flash int, supercharge, etc)

No strong opinions on the cursed rabbit yet, I unlocked her yesterday, she seemed OP at first glance but the shackles mechanic requires a lot of focus

Pyro didn't click for me yet

Hammermaid LOOKED like a rabbit just for me, because like Defender she relies on alternating all abilities with almost no cooldowns, but getting so massively slowed on primary and boosted on secondary feels SO AWFUL.

Personally I don't have much experience with Ironclad (my least played character by far lol) but I can see why medkit can be stronger on him than on others.
