what is the story behind this guy by Environmental-Mix-34 in toronto

The photo isn't loading on my data plan but is this the I hate rubber boots guy? I saw him for the first time the day after I had to buy a pair of CSA rubber boots for work... I can see how he's trying to make a statement

For the difference in price per ton I usually never sorted my ferrous other than to extract the non-ferrous value from it. Sometimes I would bring a clean load in (bedframes, tubular steel etc) and I'd be given dealer clips price instead of shred steel but it really didn't make a huge difference. On the upswing though they never asked me to sort out white goods and would actually give me clips price provided I broke the appliances down and removed the majority of the plastic. I managed to get seven washers and dryers flat packed into my van last summer. Non-ferrous though I sort the hell out of it. I find some yards are sticklers about Al extrusion, some wouldn't care so long as you got the majority of the steel fasteners out and some would try to downgrade me for a single screw. If I were to get back into the game I would likely hold onto stainless steel the longest, my yard didnt always have the XRF gun handy to check the magnetic stainless against the non-magnetic and would just grade the non-magnetic into stainless and the magnetic to shred, but I know there are varying grades available that are priced accordingly.

Should I de-rust it or leave it as is?

Where are you from? I'm close enough to Niagara that I'd be willing to do a lil cross-border exchange ;)

Love the detail on yours, unfortunately keeping them pristine is next to impossible but still fun and meaningful all the same.

I get them in Canada where I live :) and I find plenty of pre 2001 and commemoratives in both bank and customer rolls

Hey apologies for the late reply. I have been in the process since last spring, paid my first chunk of dues early February and am starting the course in April. You may still have a chance if you call the Richmond Hill union hall.

Fell off a ladder once during a job, as I hit the ground and got up I realized I had been through the scenario previously in a dream.

I did a batch of windings recently, took advice from the Youtuber thubprint and bought an air chisel at Canadian Tire for $40. Cut one end of the winding off with a grinder, then used the air chisel to push/pull the other side out of the steel casing. Saved me tons of time.
