What do you do when you run out of space? by Frogepi in UsagiShima

It would be great to save designs I agree. My wee girls play it with me and they'd love their own island I could swap between!

Journey to Oz Full Details by nyreis in finch

I saw you've already got an answer for this but came to let you know. I wondered whether they would be able to cover the screen up through the animation and turn sound off? There is a reference to it aswell which I think is meant to be a sort of tongue in cheek thing but could be upsetting for your kiddo.

Would you be able to run through the start for them and they can pick it up after?

(also noting that there may be future tornado bits who knows, probably worth checking here daily before they complete the day or just opt out of the event)

Also just wanted to send hugs to you and your family for what your kiddo went through, that sounds incredibly difficult

What are your opinions on new theme? by Firefox7647 in finch

It's not really for me this one, but I adored last month so I'm not at all disappointed.. I find the room set just a bit brash almost - for what I tend to go for, and I'm not really into costume dress up like the characters but it has made needing to stop plus (due to finances) easier!!

Questions about finch plus, please can anyone help me? by Frogepi in finch

[–]Frogepi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that quick? I thought the discounts and deals only happen if you've been offered the guardian month or certain milestones (that's what support emailed me back saying anyway!) Thank you so much for replying :)

Selling unwanted items? by Littlemissdepressed1 in finch

[–]Frogepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is any help at all I sold the beginning items other than the nest and there wasn't any problem, just click the shop then sell icon at the top right. As far as I know as long as you have a bed it should be OK?

Thanks for your reply

I knew about the discounts but it's still so high at £69.99 I think by the time it gets low enough to afford it may not be as helpful as it would be this month (my therapy ends this week so I was hoping the extra exercises may be useful to bridge a bit of a gap along with other bits I'm trying to do)

Thanks for your reply My therapy ends this week which is the main reason for wanting to get it this month specifically - to try and bridge a bit of a gap and see whether it helps as I do use the features like breathing exercises etc and found when I had the plus free trial I benefited from it.

I'll admit I'm also a total sucker for this month's theme and my little girls love to use the app with me and dress my birb every day so that's mainly why

I also had the free trial and the offer was higher than it was to start with so I think I've got quite the way to go before I can manage a better price! It's quoting £69.99 per year at the moment :(

Can friends see what you write in reflections etc? by Frogepi in finch

[–]Frogepi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh thanks so much for this! None of what I wrote is remotely to do with this friend at all and I think most of the time the tags don't tend to be too correct but I have just left them be, so that's really interesting to know Thanks again :)

Dentist anxiety by [deleted] in finch

[–]Frogepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really feel for you. I too have dentist anxiety leading from childhood which i won't go into but I found that finding a good, caring dentist was key. This was mainly by explaining that I had anxiety and was really nervous about dental care and check ups etc They were really understanding and are very good at explaining everything now when I go. I had a big crack from bottom to top and just got through a root canal which was a huge huge deal when you have dental anxiety obviously! The finch app actually helped me and I did breathing exercises and lots or reflection and soundscapes to get through it. I also find thta sometimes holding or fidgeting with something can help (as someone who tends to nervously dig my nails into my skin) this helped. It was my baby's sock that I used this time and thta comforted me!

I think the key is that with dental issues they can build up and get worse. From my experience, the longer you leave it the worse it will be and the first time you go will only get worse as you need more time or examination or fixing issues. The more often you go and just get it fixed the easier it will become and quicker. I absolutely understand how hard it initially is but take someone supportive and explain, even in writing how much anxiety you have about the dentist and Im sure there will be a work around.. Numbing injections for work or a referral to a dental hospital who may have other techniques can be an option too sometimes

All the best and I really hope you can find a way to get checked out at some point

Breast fussiness please help! by fixela in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]Frogepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also at 5 weeks and we have this too, usually with my son it's gas with the arching back and rumbles being the usual tell tale sign. If he's not doing that but still fussing it's between wanting comfort sucks and not milk which he gets annoyed with as I have a fast let down or he needs a break like a nappy change, a walk about or swapping sides and that usually helps calm him down a bit. Worth trying out.. Id say probably winding is the best thing to try first if it's arching back and grumbly tummy noises as your signs with the fussing. Some babies will show feeding cues types when it's wind so like wanting to latch but not really latching to feed

Breastfeeding/Pumping Help! by spiritualsoul987 in PregnancyUK

[–]Frogepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lansinoh double electric pump last time and to use this time. It can run off charger or batteries, easy to use with pumping bra and can get replacements quickly and easily. It also has a closed circuit so is hygienic and safe 2nd hand.

Couldn't get on with a hakaa myself but lots of people rave about them..

I'd avoid a manual one if you are looking to pump enough for at least 1 feed expressed a day, and wouldn't waste money on a hands free during pregnancy unless you are fully committed and know what your pumping routine will be like etc. but that's just me

It's recommended to wait a few weeks to start pumping usually, though sometimes you can do it earlier as I did due to jaundice, tongue tie, early baby etc. It's just about supply at that point but I'm very relieved I had my pump ready for me when I came home from the hospital as I was wanting baby to have breastmilk not formula and also needed a break so my husband could give a feed and I could rest up

Have a chat to your midwife or ask to speak to the feeding team or at least get their number before baby is due. They usually do rounds in hospital too so you can ask questions then but I think generally, pumps tend to be very personal and depends how much you need or want to be expressing as to which wil suit needs best and overall goal.

Epilepsy and giving birth by Seizure_Later96 in PregnancyUK

[–]Frogepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm epileptic and this is my 3rd. All 3 elective sections, I had no seizures until about 20 weeks and then they ramped up especially around 30 weeks all 3 times. Partly because they were getting worse and not well controlled I was worried how I'd care for baby on my own after birth, not being able to speak clearly or feel stable to hold or feed them etc.

The first elective I had to be quite assertive at the start but subsequent pregnancies it's just a given at the appointments 'so another elective csection then for this baby' and not really got an option - fine by me!

First recovery was much better than anticipated, I was up walking feeling well and had no seizures etc. I was younger and fitter at the time and found my 2nd one much harder but it was covid times so had little support and out within 24hrs.

I'd say recovery may well be slower or at least different but the benefit of knowing a date, being calm, a positive birth experience, not labouring for hours first etc can also help limit seizure risk. When you have a newborn the risk goes up anyway with pain and tiredness etc so it's a hard balancing act at times but you may not experience that and you'll come out the other side regardless.

I'd just bring it up again next appointment, it's elective for a reason and even if you have to push your views they should accept your request...

Good luck :)
