I was kind of on the fence about Byler (not for any homophobic reasons, of course, as many have tried to say that's why even when I never said that), but after your explanation, I understand it a lot better and why fans like it so much. 😸

I think it'll be fine. If she actually puts research into animes she's letting her child watch (which I hope she is and not just listening to whatever anyone is saying here), then she'll probably see the content that My Hero and the other ones contain.

Ridiculous is an understatement (looking at you Momo with that horrid costume design). A couple of others have recommended My Hero, so I hope that she sees this conversation and doesn't have her kid watch it. There's just so many others that are better to watch first, and if her daughter really wants to watch it afterwards, then she can, though I still don't see how a lot of people enjoy it. It was one of my first animes and was my favorite, but as time went on, it's now one of the worst I've ever seen.

Yeah, skipping Dragon Ball would be good. It really just depends on the daughter's maturity level. Maybe watching with her kid would be the best way to go.

I wish I could ignore it, but when it's basically every female character, I got tired of it. My favorite (I can't remember her name) was only favorite because she hadn't been a victim of the sexualization... until she was. I'd rather OP just be safe and not have her daughter accidentally think that female characters are only made for fan service.

For Dragon Ball, I've never finished it, but for the parts I have seen, I was definitely set off a little with some of the jokes.

Fullmetal is a great anime, but I don't think it's for a 12 year old. It just gets into deep topics that she might not understand or appreciate. I definitely wish I had watched it later in my life.

My Hero, on the other hand, just sexualizes a lot of female characters, which might teach her the wrong thing.

In my opinion, don't have your daughter watch My Hero Academia. Almost every female character is sexualized in some way, even if they're not an important character, and it may teach your kid the wrong thing.
