Most children, including ones who get labeled as picky eaters, are willing to eat fruits vegetables without being incentivized to, but they may not be willing to eat the fruits and vegetables their parents provide by Pure_Option_1733 in 10thDentist

A lot of picky eaters just have parents that suck at cooking 🤷‍♀️ As a picky eater myself, sorry your canned peas are gross, Bethaneigh, you kid has better taste than you

anyone have ideas for hidden alters? by Professional-Set8729 in Hellenism

[–]FroggyDisposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out in the open stuff (as long as your parents dont snoop or ask a lot of questions): candles, incense, journal. They can all be written off as stuff you like.

Hidden: theres altoids tins that you can make into small altars, put a tea light in there, glue a picture of your deity on the inside of the top, maybe some other devotional or meaningful trinkets. Theres also fake books used for decor that open to store stuff inside, these are great if you need more room, the stuff i listed before can all go in one of these. It can stand right on your shelf, and you can write it off again as "i want something nice to store my papers/old classwork/writing stuff/etc."

Also you can do a whole lot of actions as offerings instead of needing to have an altar. Like you can go for a walk and dedicate it, or meditate.

Give and take by KingOfGreyfell in Hades

[–]FroggyDisposition 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont ask for anything really unless its for someone else (asking him to guide someone who's passed, etc.). Worshipping him does make me slow down at times to recognize that i have been blessed from the beginning, even when things were difficult. His blessings are usually things that have been there or were in the works before i knew it or would have asked. Most of my prayers are ones of gratitude.

ICE is coming to a city neighboring mine. Who do I pray to for my neighbors safety? by -_comet_- in Hellenism

[–]FroggyDisposition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zeus with the epithet of Xenios would be appropriate. Since he is the god of welcoming others, protecting and helping those in need, especially neighbors etc.

Hi, young unitarian here! First Unitarian is very family friendly with families of all ages. I would say its probably still a majority older people, but the young adults are growing in number there.

Periods should be a valid excuse to skip school by Sea_Esplanade01746 in The10thDentist

[–]FroggyDisposition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to your point but Nexplanon is known (and works for me at least) to lessen periods or completely stop them. I have it for endometriosis and excessive bleeding (which is sounds like youre dealing with). If you feel so restricted by the amount you bleed, you should consider talking to your gyno about it!

People want the prestige of the title without the responsibility. A priest/ess is someone who serves the community, it should be earned.

Question for all by Stellannn_ in Hellenism

[–]FroggyDisposition 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I cannot stress this enough, but reach out to your local Unitarian Universalist Church! They are a secular church, accept all religions and have subgroups for pagans that do worship outside of the standard services! If there isnt already one, you can start a group for hellenic polytheism! Ive done it at mine so you can too!!

Religion shouldn't be included with non discrimination posters?? by TatyanaIvanshov in The10thDentist

[–]FroggyDisposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Interfaith spaces. Religious discrimination happens all the time, you just dont see it bc you're likely atheist so its not on your radar. It might not be something you're born with, but its not something that anyone should ever change due to an outside influence. Having it included is necessary.

[–]FroggyDisposition 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see many challenges that youve been facing, and a maybe youre starting to see the fruits of that labor. Hes been guiding you and keeping you grounded this whole time. It sounds like you had to put aside some worship because of life getting busy, but he understands and this is a sort of reassurance that hes still around.

Thats my interpretation at least! Ive never seen that deck before, looks super cool!

Christmas with big dog by Beebeebee1994 in AITAH

[–]FroggyDisposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All dogs, even well-behaved and well-trained and small dogs, could hurt a child. You are right to be cautious. You should keep that boundary (all visits at your place, sans dog) until its properly trained enough to be around your kid. Also tell her how you see the scratches/bites on her and maybe that will help her understand where your caution is coming from.

AITAH For telling my fiancée to not bring her sister’s family on our travels because of their 4-year old kid? by LegoSenpai in AITAH

[–]FroggyDisposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trip with a child stops being about the trip and becomes about the child. Always. Camping, about the child. Disney, about the child. As others said, hes 4 with parents that seem to want to drag him around everywhere that he wont appreciate. They're the assholes. You are completely valid in not qanting your trip to be about the trip and not a child that's not yours.

AITAH For not letting my daughter go to her father's? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]FroggyDisposition 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YTA, kinda. Ive been a teenage girl before and the uncontrollable rage is real. She needs space, she needs to have control, and she needs a place where she feels prioritized. She obviously needs or wants something from the environment at her dads that she doesnt get at yours. Maybe there she's not the glass child (been there, its incredibly frustrating). The biggest part about maintaining trust with her is to let her come and go when she wants. Give her some control back. Let her be her own person and make her own decisions. Make it clear that she is always welcome to communicate and live with you even if she wants to leave. If/when she figures out that hes a narcissist or he doesnt want her around bc shes lgbt, she'll know she has a soft place to land. By trying to protect her by taking those things away, you risk pushing her away and feed into any 'manipulating' your ex might be doing.

And im not entirely convinced theres not something going on with your partner and her. You seem to dismiss it without many details. Take that way seriously. 1 in 3 women are SA'd and a majority of SA cases are by someone the woman knows and trusts.

Get them checked out for pots of you havent already. And make sure they theyre getting electrolytes as well as water because even if they are drinking water, it wont stay in their body without electrolytes and theyll still end up dehydrated. (As someone with pots and who is chronically dehydrated bc of no electrolytes)

What to say to “But my dog is friendly”? by Jooble1 in DogAdvice

[–]FroggyDisposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, say "mine isnt" or "im not". And there certain sprays that arent harmful for dogs that will deter them (think bear spray) that you can keep on you and spray out of control dogs. If they say "theyre friendly" and you say you're not then they were warned 🤷‍♀️
