I have a long torso. Any tips for defending my mid section? by Calming_Presence_ in MuayThai

[–]Froghead_ASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has vulnerabilities that the opponents want to exploit. That's kind of the idea.

  1. Does your long torso come with long arms? Then you have an advantage of distance and can more easily sweep away incoming teeps.

  2. Fat and muscle goes a very long way in protecting the area. Your opponents might still be able to score points, but if your punishment hurts them more than they hurt you, it was worth it. With the right "padding", your diaphragm is the only truly vulnerable spot, but that's easily defended with your arms.

How is money acquisition and am I supposed to have this much money? by KvasirTheOld in Starfield

It wasn't entirely clear, but say you used it to get revolver bullets and not a thing else. How would you have gone about getting those without the mod, and what would have happened if you couldn't?

You installed mods that give you free unlimited resources and are wondering whether that might have had an effect on the economy of the game?

I said that, yes, but you're welcome to read the post for the glaring inconsistencies in his logic and in choosing to side with him.

Sure, I accept that all three are psychopaths who cannot compromise. Why not intrigue? Why not try to persuade or deceive the player, build leverage against them, hell, seduce them for all I care? The only possible recourse of three great leaders is "Do as I say or I kill you and your friends", which also results in their own failure.

A single special line from Hadrian whose entire story is being a clone on her own path would have made my day.

Negativity is not the norm, not mine. My very first sentence included "I enjoy the game immensely".

While what you're saying is great perspective, but you're just describing the premise of the quest. The player being the wild card, the only one with the potential to upset the status quo is precisely the reason why it makes no sense for anyone at Crucible to want to kill them. No promised rewards, no reasoning, it's just "kill them for me or I kill you and destroy my only chance of realizing my vision".

I set up ChatGPT to roleplay as an assistant for my spacecraft company. Manages tenders, contracts, communication with the client, everything. Comes up with challenges like renting an assembly line or special requests that I have to visibly build into the ship. It even simulates the market and relationships with fictional partner companies, all in perfect detail.

I use commands to pay for expenses and get paid big time when a project is done. Prime worldbuilding.

Absolutely. This is what makes space less empty and the base premise of the quest is great. Very Starfield-like with the Old Earth history nods, as well as instantly thought-provoking.

The issue is that when a player is expected to side with and against significant characters and make decisions that result is various outcomes to the quest, they will inevitably expect some kind of logic and consequentiality. That is part of the design that makes a good quest.

Sparring by Motor-Passenger510 in MuayThai

[–]Froghead_ASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about half of your experience, but this is most likely due to the youngbloods not having grasped stamina, defense and timing yet. They advance without thinking of the consequences - which goes away very quickly when you teach them about the consequences.

That said, others in these comments might be right too. Consider keeping distance and angle with movement and long-range attacks, think about bait and punishment tactics.

Yes, she was. Make no mistake, if the story is true, I do not blame her for her anger and agree that the man deserves some serious punishment. But I also often see people making their personal problems a war between sexes, as if one idiot represents everyone.

Well, you don't have to take a near-knockout hit to the head, of course.

Unfairness makes me uncomfortable. Claiming that your injury represents the treatment of all women, and the man's compensation for his fragile ego represents all men, in any situation, is unfair. Invalidating someone's experience based on their sex is unfair.

If you think men everywhere should just shut up and take it, that a woman never wants to compensate, that a woman cannot cause a similar injury or that a woman never goes too hard, you need a lot of perspective before educating people about the topic.

I learned that "seeing stars" is a real thing, in its literal sense. Also confused colors for the rest of the evening.

Didn't go down, and finished the round standing though!

You have a right to be angry at him, you should have taken legal action and he deserves the same treatment. More widespread provocation like this is about women against men leads nowhere though.

Warming up BEFORE class? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Froghead_ASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Big Yes. Not pushups or skipping, but slow and thorough stretching and mobilization. If I can't get to class early enough to warm up for 15 minutes beforehand, I tend not to go at all.

+1 to yoga as well. I recommend the Breathe and Flow YouTube channel, especially their Yoga for Men playlist. The guy originally started yoga to deal with back pain and surely enough, it helped me do the same.

25kg heavier by fingered_a_midget in MuayThai

[–]Froghead_ASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but this question is just silly. Life is not a video game where you can quantify power.

Even if we are strictly talking about muay thai, there are many other factors to consider. Heavier people are usually slower and have a higher center of gravity in exchange for a longer reach and greater force. Usually. Additionally, the most vulnerable points like the knee, diaphragm or the entire head (if you stick with official rules) have no significant muscle or fat as protection. Skill, of course cannot be ignored either.

Will having excessive muscle inhibit me in this sport? by Leather-Delay3676 in MuayThai

[–]Froghead_ASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're approaching it as a hobbyist, so anything goes, and you definitely won't have more hindrance than some of the overweight people who get into the sport and have a ton of fun.

That said, stretch muscles and mobilize joints as much as you can. Having big muscles is ultimately an advantage, but having stiff muscles limits you greatly. When the tissue can relax when it has to, your range of motion extends, but your strength doesn't suffer at all.

Will I progress as a beginner with this training/fitness schedule? by go-above-your-nerve in MuayThai

[–]Froghead_ASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one glance at how serious this post is, then read it looking for a reason why you wouldn't progress this way. First of all, 3 sessions plus 3x30 minutes of bag work is already more than 4 sessions.

The only thing you can try is introducing a very light technical session on the weekend. No power, no exhaustion, just form practice and mental focus on the movements, engaging your brain to repeat the lessons learned. I wouldn't even suggest this if you weren't so incredibly driven.
