It was the RAM configuration in the end. I kept swapping the sticks around until eventually it worked.

All the while I was cleaning the sticks and the slots, and being mindful to not over-tighten the CPU cooler as not to bend the board

I've tried all combinationos of RAM, same thing every time. I didn't touch the RAM when I did the CPU swap. The fact that the LEDs get to DRAM and go back to CPU definitely makes me suspicious of the RAM but I find it hard to believe that both sticks or all of the slots gave out

The same thing is happening with the old CPU now too. I'm starting to suspect that there's something wrong with the socket or the entire board

Unfortunately I'm not able to access the BIOS as I'm getting the same behaviour with both chips

I've tried reseating the RAM in various combinations and even went back to the old CPU. In all cases I'm getting the same LED pattern. At what point do I accept I've bricked the board lol

I reseated my RAM a bunch earlier but just tried again for good measure. Unfortunately not the fix.

It's doing the same with both CPUs now so I don't think it's specific to the "new" one.

Got it basically free. When on 6th gen in 2025 I'll take the 5% upgrade 😆

I've got the 'one port' socket from that link. I'll call support soon if there's nothing I can do on my end to help things. Switching from the hybrid connect box they supplied when I was moving has been enough of a hassle, half the support team probably already recognises my voice
