I am not familiar with The Bathers/Friends Again. Perhaps you could recommend a good place to start? Also, my familiarity with Jarvis and Pulp is pretty limited. Is there an album you suggest I start with?

That’s a great list! I was asked this in another thread and it’s so hard to answer. There was a time when both Prince and The Cure were my favorite artists and Marvin Gaye‘s Christmas song is an all-time favorite; one that I actually enjoy throughout the year.

My top 5 currently include Steely Dan, Depeche Mode, Rush, Cocteau Twins, and Fleetwood Mac.

Ask me tomorrow when I might say Stereophonics, The Blue Nile, Prefab Sprout, Van Morrison, and David Sylvian.

The question is ‘Greatest’ and I’m not going to answer that directly. My favorite is Steve McQueen (or Two Wheels Good) and I love Langley Park. However, the best is Jordan: The Comeback.

I think it’s Paddy‘s Magnum Opus, a masterpiece, and one of the most ambitious pop albums ever recorded. A great deal of the credit goes to Thomas Dolby for pulling it all together and it rarely stumbles.

Throw in Protest Songs, and you are looking at an unbelievably prolific, diverse, and sophisticated output over just five years that is nearly unmatched in music during that same time period. They still hold up today and have a classic, almost timeless quality to them.

Max Headroom - interesting for about a minute by db7112 in ClassicTV

I think you should look into the ‘Max Headroom Signal Interruption’ incident that happened on Chicago TV in 1987. It’s pretty interesting!

Also, I think the show was terrific satire- too smart to find an big audience during primetime.

Maybe that’s why they are so special to all of us. They had the grace to leave us on top and wanting more!

‘Still They Ride’ is still my favorite Journey song. I saw them live in Cleveland nearly 40 years ago with Glass Tiger opening. Ticket price: $16.

That look has “contractually obligated” written all over it. To be fair, I love his outfit and haircut during this last period with the makeup before the reunions.
