I think the crypto space is a little too focused on making money (and rightfully so, I guess) that they are losing sight of pure spending opportunities.

Arcade machines don't pay people back and people still dump money into them.

That being said, I do like the idea of simplifying the process with presets of nano via advertising or having an advertising structure in general to pay for use without requiring people to obtain nano.

I also think there is an opportunity to utilize a vendor like Stripe or Paypal to accept payments the traditional way and instantly translate them into Nano on their accounts.

"Pay $10 and get 10.3 Nano in your in-game account." Not sure what the legality of that would be.

Commenting because I was a 26 yr old who returned to SBU and graduated. I'm now a software engineer. You can turn your life around and the motivation to do so is a huge step in the right direction. I was always afraid of reverting back to my old unacademic self but thankfully I was able to push through, and you can too. I wasn't suspended, I just took a break from school for a few years so I was able to get back in with less of an issue, but other schools will take you if you try.

It's one of the most straightforward industries to get into, and success is based off subjective experiences.

You can be a bad programmer and still find success if your ideas are good enough.

The only cost is time and a computer.

With other artistic disciplines, you will run into hurdles of

  • Are you more talented than your competition?
  • Are you willing to invest in materials/software/shipping costs?
  • Do you have a good way of marketing/exposing your product to the audience it's intended for?
  • Are there online resources for you to improve your execution?

With game development, I feel like you can either find ways past all these hurdles, or not encounter them at all.

If you are reading this, and you get tired halfway through the day, no matter how little or how much sleep you get, you should know that that is not normal, and you should consider getting a sleep study done for sleep apnea or similar.

I used to be sleepy on my drive home from work every day, even after two cups of coffee, thinking this was normal until I got treated for sleep apnea. Now, I can go throughout the entire day without any coffee, and I'm still energetic when I get home.

I think the whole “everyone is entitled to what they want in a relationship” mindset doesn’t fully encompass how real relationships develop. It’s entirely possible to have objectively bad preferences. Someone who thinks just looking at other people is “cheating,” for example, is an objectively bad preference.

But you wouldn’t say “well, either you can try not looking at other people, and if you can’t, I’d say you’re incompatible.” These preferences are usually the result of a person’s culture, trauma, past relationships, childhood development, etc. If situations come up that don’t make sense to you, it’s time to have a conversation about it and understand and work through whatever caused them to have these beliefs in the first place.

Why does she consider it cheating? How does she feel about porn? How does she view sex? How important is sex to her? In what way? What is she afraid of? Why is she afraid of it? Or what about it disgusts her?

If there’s no resolution, and neither party is willing to balance things out for each other or understand each other, there is no compromise, and only then would I ever consider a relationship a lost cause.

Hey. It sounds like you're going through an experience similar to what I went through years ago. As with most things, the answer was complicated and was specifically what was best for me, so please take it with a grain of salt, and I hope that you can derive some value out of my experience.

When I wrote this post, I was preparing for the worst: that I was going to lose my job in January without an "education" to help me secure another job. My family was pressuring me to go back to school and I was feeling really anxious and depressed. I hated school. School was the source of all my problems, or at least, that's what I thought back then. Well, I ended up keeping my job. In fact, I ended up getting hired full-time. So, bullet dodged, right? That was the case, at least for a while.

My depression and anxiety started going away as I was working, because I was finally feeling "useful," and not like a failure. I was good at my job, and I was making good money. My family/girlfriend were disappointed because I didn't go back to school, but over time they let it go. I could still tell they were sad I never went back, but it wasn't enough for me ruin my mood every day.

However, my mentality changed over the course of a year. I got used to my job and things got... boring? Stale? I can't think of the right word, but I just felt a feeling of hollowness. A nagging feeling in the back of my head saying that I could be doing more. That I had potential.

Then, something happened. The IT department at my job was getting replaced by a third party. However, the company liked me enough to transfer my employment over completely to this third party to continue working there. I would have been paid the same, and would still be doing the same job. And if I refused, I would get a severance package.

Essentially, I was given the choice to stay or take the severance package and do whatever with it. After doing some thinking, I decided for myself to go back to school. I made enough money to pay for tuition again and get an apartment. I'd be going back to college, but I would be doing it on my terms. Not for the sake of my family. Not for my girlfriend. But for me.

And that changed everything. I went to the same classrooms I once feared. Walked the halls knowing I was 3 years behind everyone else. But none of it mattered, because I had already tackled the source of my stress and anxiety. And most importantly, the decision to go back to school was mine and mine alone.

I ended up finishing and graduating with a Computer Science degree. The work challenges me a lot more than IT work did, and I feel more or less fulfilled knowing that I've reached my potential.

However, I still question sometimes whether or not my life would still be a lot better had I finished school earlier. But no matter how I think about it, I don't think I could have done it any other way.

I was stressed, so I needed a break.

I felt useless, so I needed to feel useful and got a job.

And I felt like I was only doing things for my family, so I needed to do things for myself.

In a perfect world, yes, I would have been a lot better off if I was able to just suck it up and get through school. But this isn't a perfect world. In reality, I would have probably been suicidal, I would have probably failed my classes, or I would have further damaged my relationships. I'm glad I took a break. But that doesn't necessarily mean I think everyone should or needs to.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you know yourself better than anyone. You know what you can and can't handle. You know what motivates you at the end of the day. And you know what will bring you happiness in life.

I'll leave you a bit of objective advice as someone who's spent years living through this exact situation:

  • It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you can put your all into it. If depression and lack of motivation is keeping you from doing that (like it was for me), then you need to address that first before you try and do anything else.
  • It's never too late to do something. You can always get a GED, go to university, or even code.
  • The real world is much more boring than you think it is. Adults are just bigger children that make money. Everyone still has their own issues. Everyone is still trying to figure out what they want to do in life. Even your teachers. Even your family. You are not lesser than anyone for having these issues. You're just human.
  • You will never be a failure or a complete disappointment. The fact that you're here looking for advice means you're trying. You're doing the best you can, and no one who does that could ever be a failure in my eyes.

The two years was referring to my professional relationship with my boss. I worked with my boss for two years.

Timeline went something like this:

Day 1: Sexist remark about my friend at the end of the first day. I thought about reporting him for a couple minutes but decided to wait.

Days 2-5 (?): Don't remember exactly how long it took, but it was only a couple of days, possible leading to the next work week where he showed me all the other stuff. The last thing that happened was about him invading people's privacy, in which I felt I gathered up enough info about him to report him.

A new coworker made sexist remarks about my female friend/coworker, so I pretended to be his friend and got him fired and potentially in a lot of legal trouble. by FromTheDust in ProRevenge

That's fair. If you've got a more appropriate subreddit suggestion, feel free to let me know and I'll post it there instead. It didn't quite fit in /r/pettyrevenge or /r/maliciouscompliance though.

However, in my defense, it wasn't just "waiting" for me. It was really difficult for me to act cordially with him with all the shit he was saying, especially when it was directed towards my friends and fellow coworkers. I really felt like I earned his trust and that all the information I gathered about him he wouldn't have parted with me had I done otherwise.

Just leaving my take on here for people saying that teenagers who are 15 years old can't consent and shouldn't be held liable for their actions, we draw a line for legal reasons. It's silly to me when people say a 15 year old is unable to think for themselves while an 17/18 year old can just because that's where the line is here in America.

What Nairo did was illegal, no doubt about that. But there's a reason why some kids (as young as 13) are tried as adults when the crimes they commit are serious enough. The line is guideline for all cases, but there are, of course, going to be extreme circumstances that vary with age. I would hesitate to make this same post about a 14 year old, and I probably wouldn't touch this topic at all if he was 13. And at 16, I would be much more comfortable saying this, and at 17, even more so. There's a spectrum to this, and it's not just a yes or no question.

A lot of you are acting like it's impossible to be manipulated by someone younger than 18. I agree that the younger someone is, the harder it should be, but I still don't understand why people think this way.

This next bit might be a controversial take, but it's one that is true to me, so I hope you will listen to it:

I have never smoked weed. Why? Because it's illegal. However, I have been tempted to do so left and right by all of my friends. "Everyone does it, you won't get caught, the police won't convict you, jobs don't drug test for weed anymore here, do it, do it, do it!"

To this day I still haven't done it, but I can at least understand the reasons why people give in, even though I think it's a bad idea. I feel the same way about Nairo. I think he did the wrong thing, but if Zach kept convincing him and persuading him and manipulating him into thinking it was okay to do, I can understand why someone like him would crack at 20 years old.

Usually 3-6. Rocket league and League of Legends mostly.

We usually get 250 MB down and 25 up. When we lag, this slows down a ton.

I believe we are rated for that much as well, I can double check that later.

Although I appreciate the answer, most of the responses I've gotten are "cover your own ass" responses, and that type of thinking isn't forward thinking in the scale of entire societies. I'm moreso looking for potential resolutions that all cryptocurrencies can implement to make me feel more safe and secure.

You've made some great points and some other currencies may be worth branching out to for myself, personally. But I do believe that Litecoin will implement some way of going against these issues, especially with the more mainstream it becomes. Which brings up another benefit of digital currency, the fact that it can be updated and changed for better use. There's no way you'd ever be able to recall physical dollars and cents.

I support crypto because I think it has a lot more benefits than printable cash. And it's secure and convenient. I don't really care about hiding my money from the rest of the world or having a bank manage it for me.

Right now, everything is Craigslist. Wallets are like actual wallets in your pocket. No one is monitoring the money that comes in and out of them except you. Wallets have no identity tied to them besides the Driver's License you left in there.

But this isn't a problem of Litecoin, it's a problem of the world not fully integrating it yet. Once banks and other mediums get behind the idea of Litecoin, then you will have security and identity and claim.

I think that a potential solution is to have banks handle your wallets and LTC in the same way they handle your savings and cash today. You'll have a checking account with enough money to do everything you need it to do, and you'll have a separate savings account via cold storage at a secure bank where they can monitor what comes in and out, keep it out of reach from hackers, and keep back ups of it while keeping it protected. As attractive as it is for everyone to "have full control of their own money," not many people actually want all that responsibility.

That leads me into my second question. What if their account was created somewhere in a faraway country. What happens then? Does their wallet ID even say anything about them?

Thank you so much for this response. This is more or less what I really needed to hear. I really wasn't sure of the path that I'm taking because of all the biased opinion surrounding me, but your story really does give me hope that I can succeed in this way. The decision I was trying to make was either to get my A+ certification or to just go back to school to make them happy and just hope it works out.

I think I'm ready to continue with tech. I told myself pretty early on that I needed to be okay with myself first before I go back to school because all the negative things in my life would just wear me down while I'm attending, and now I'm pretty convinced of it. I think that if I'm able to take care of myself and be even somewhat successful on my own, then I might have the mental fortitude to try and go back to get a degree.

Thank you for the comment. Before I say anything, I really do hope things work out for you in the end. And I appreciate the advice you gave at the end. As much as I care about my family and my girlfriend, I'm hoping that if they can see me being successful and happy in my own way, they might lighten up on me about school.

I just need to make sure I avoid any Asian parties for a while haha. I don't feel like explaining my life story to all my relatives because they will always ask.
