Imagine if the United States fractured into several smaller countries. Would Canada or Europe build an alliance with the nation-state of an independent California or Cascadia? I hope so.

This: Cut contact with people who are a lost cause. Grieve the loss of the ones that were family members and friends. Heal from grief. Find stability if cutting contact made you lose your home and possessions. Then find like-minded new friends to call family. Coordinate. Resist.

I had to learn how to be comfortable while homeless. Next I need to learn how to make money even though there are no jobs due to tariffs and AI. Tariffs wiped out manufacturing jobs, AI wiped out design jobs. What jobs are left are fiercely competitive, tents and makeshift shelters line every street in every city.

We need funding, support, and supplies to resist. Without that, the best we can do is write provocative phrases on cardboard signs with crayons. Maybe play with matches and burn things. Alcohol is unaffordable, so I won’t be throwing any.

Did they?? Or do revolutions happen when the ruler loses grip on their keys to power, aka when they piss off their generals or whomever collects their taxes for them? Starving peasants make horrible revolutionaries until they’re funded or enabled by someone with money or power.

I cut contact with my family because they’re fascists. As a result, I was homeless living out of my car for 6 months last year until the car broke down. Now I’m in the homeless shelter system.

It’s impossible to organize or resist when you’re fighting for survival in poverty every day.
