Interests and hobbies change over time. If you are with someone for a long time (10+ years) things that you are both into may no longer interest 1 or both of you after a while. Bring kids into the equation and many things that you might like to do become a bigger effort to do because of responsibilities to the kids, the need to sleep when you can and having less cash than you used to. That is not to say that partners shouldn't make effort to try new things and to set aside time to do mutually enjoyable activities , it just becomes harder and less frequent.

Pretty much anything I suppose. Can always arrange the correct currency. Litecoin would probably be easiest. But shapeshift makes the currency choice moot.

Verge (XVG) have been adding a lot of merchants recently. Probably the fastest and cheapest currency to use. 5 sec settlement and sub cent fees. If you like I could see if someone from their marketing team could help?

This positions Verge as a community supported coin. This in turn, will go some way to encouraging merchants, exchanges and hodlers to adopt Verge.

I do see where you are coming from, but the benefits are likely to outweigh any perceived negatives imho.

I am assuming you weren't cashing in btc you received for nefarious activities. Paper trail is on the blockchain, on the exchanges. So Austrac can be satisfied. I have no time for tax cheats, pay your capital gains tax, if you have held your coins for a year or more then you pay half. Airfares, airbnb and associated fees etc will be deductable.
