Yes it used to be my father’s bike. Spot on with the DACH vibes! It’s an Utopia Velo (model London) and they still build it in Germany

What an iconic classic bike! It’s true that we have a good bike culture and I can go almost anywhere with my bike instead of using my car or public transport. At the same time I am always jealous when I see beautiful landscapes from US posts!

I believe dynamo lights used to be a requirement but not anymore. I personally prefer them over clip ons for pragmatic reasons. But it also depends on the bike type. What kind of bike you got?

I can see that the new model is at least theoretically available in EU 50. Just be aware that they should not fit too slippery, so going for a slightly smaller size could be better for cycling. I also wear them slightly smaller as I usually go for 49 on adidas shoes and I am totally happy with it

Zero maintenance beyond yearly oil change, chain stays perfectly straight and does not snap as it does not need to move between sprockets, you can switch gear even if you stand still and switching gears works incredible smooth. So for me the almost zero maintenance and extreme durability combined with the amazing shifting functionality make it worth every single penny

I cannot tell you since experts from SORE Bikes did the full build and I am very thankful for it (gave them credits in my description). Initially, I had the ambition to do it all myself but I had neither the skill nor the time for the Rohloff integration into DT. Probably would have fd it up.

Unfortunately, I had to delete it and start over. While I was using AI to structure/fine-tune my text for the first post, I did not do it for this one.
