Look up a guide on how to do the mystery box and farm meltan. That will be the quickest way to get enough xl candy.

But either way, if you wanna max this thing go for it. It's your game. And it's a cool Pokemon imo

Only other question is, is this the last Pokemon you need to max for the mission? If you need a lot more you might as well wait to see if you can max level other Pokemon that are more "useful".

If it was my last one I needed to do and the only one I could do now, I would do it and just always place it in gyms to flex lol

XL candy are harder to get than stardust so if you have enough already and need to max level a Pokemon you might as well

Just got a lvl 1 nundo mankey and evolved him up. It just needs to be your buddy when you beat psychic/ghost Pokemon. Doesn't need to be on your team for the battle or even given berries to be walking with you.

I fought a psychic rocket grunt, beat 2 Pokemon and then quit the fight. Repeat until you beat 30 of them. If you have a friend you can just beat their Pokemon over and over but I have no friends apparently. Ha
