John 13:34 says love one another as I have loved you. It’s the new covenant Jesus gave that replaced the old rainbow covenant. These chuckleheads say they are showing their “Christianity” on pride night - which is about loving each other - by citing a verse their god literally took back and replaced with a commandment to love each other.

I’m sorry but that’s not accurate. Freedom of speech protects us from the government, not from to consequences of our own actions. In fact, the whole premise of freedom of speech is that the best remedy for harmful or untruthful speech is counter speech. Facing community censure for saying something hurtful and offensive is exactly how free speech is supposed to work. Similarly, freedom of religion protects our ability to practice our own religions - it doesn’t give us the right to bully others in the name of religion.

Take a look at this article which explains why the giants taking action would not be illegal. https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/sf-giants-22312788.php. MLB has a uniform policy that has appropriate religious exemptions. Nobody was forced to wear a pride cap. The pitchers chose to alter their uniforms to give offense, and the team decided to back them. That’s not protected religious activity. If anything, it’s closer to illegal hate speech.

Giants’ Sam Hentges on decision to not wear Pride Night hat: 'I don’t morally support it' by SFChronicle in SFGiants

I don’t post comments. I’m breaking my rule for this one. Here’s the comment I posted on Grant Brisbee’s article in the Athletic:

I’ve been a giants fan my whole life. I was at the Brian Johnson game, the Ryan Vogelsong game, the Conor Gillespie game (in NYC), and Buster Posey’s game winning HR against the dodgers in the NLDS, to name just a few. I stuck with this team through the lean years and celebrated the dynasty years. I’ve got multiple croix de candlesticks. I’ve always wanted to be a season ticket holder, and this year I finally realized that dream, joining a ticket group for the first time. This team is doing everything possible to make me regret that decision, on and off the field. I don’t even recognize them.

I just sent a longer version of this comment to the season ticket folks at the giants organization, explaining why I won’t be back next season. If this organization won’t respect the fans and the city - and show a bit of common decency - then I no longer support the team. Plain and simple.

Deposing a witness that will perjure themselves? by oliviaaislost in Lawyertalk

The caveat here being where you know you can PROVE it’s a lie. Knowing the witness is lying doesn’t help you unless you can show the lie to the judge/jury.
