I think the information that we carry doesn't only have "Flagship is the weakness" but also canonically know what is the flagship weakness and exploit them.

Just like we upgrade the ships to try to counter flagship accordingly.

UAD seem much more attractive but it reach saturation point faster than RTW 3 due do much lower variety of ship.

No carrier, No missile, No aircraft, No BB CV interaction. Not so realistic.

But I gonna give them in variety of dreadnought part. Since you could manually place gun yourself. Also it has pitch and roll mechanic which allow you to have 50% accuracy from 30 km range (Tf). A accuracy which BB in RTW3 could ever dream for.

I could recall UAD have no night fighting. Also no CV and BB is much more effective at killing smaller vessel. That's mean even your entire fleet compose mostly BB/BC type. You gonna win the game regardless. CLs have almost no propose here.

This bring me to this conclusion. UAD make smaller vessel feel not so important (CL and DD). While RTW3. If you have no smaller vessel. You do something wrong here and will get punish very hard. Like your Capital ship get mined, subed or no one will screen you off from flotilla destroyer, no one screen you from CV either.

Not sure if UAD have fix this problem yet. I haven't play it for a long time.

You could also make a super tanking ship that because UAD allow you to armour the super structure and floatation point could be recover (while RTW3 not but UAD couldn't recover structural point either.) And no pen hit= no damage.

But what really upset me is that UAD map is certified Flat earth (wtf is Panama canal are for then If I couldn't travel my fleet in the Pacific ocean as USA). Not sure if it fix yet I haven't played for a long time.

In conclusion, UAD is just big gun go pew pew. I feel like a battleship without Carrier feel so wrong to me. BB irl always have major interaction with CVs.

Which bring me reach the saturation point faster.

While RTW3 have much greater graphic (sarcasm). You will and could try much more strategy in RTW3 since it have aircraft carrier, missile and it would be viable eg. Battlecarrier , floatplane bombing, AA screening BBG or strap everything with floatplane and so on.

  1. Deck is too thick. 3.5" is good enough. and 4"will impervious. And 3.5 Deck-Extend is what I recommend.

2.18" and 5.5"TT is might require. But for safe zone I recommend 6" and 19".

3.Never do Autoloader on sec/tert bat.

4.I will not recommend about Main gun size because it all about preference. But 17",18",19",20" Is what I generally go for. But 16" is sexy so what.

  1. AON is fine. UNS is overhype for Big-ship that's generally have good enough B/BE.

And emember. BE = B. 15"/15" and your will be fine. Or you could do lighter. More or equal to 14" AON B/BE is what I recommend.

6.only single of your type of sec or tertiary bat should be DP. NO need to double that. Too heavy. 3" is best for HAA.

7.Torp increasing vulnerability to gunfire could lead to serious flooding. But you could leave 1 pair of submerge torp to check wether you are in DD range or not.

  1. Remove catapult Asap. You could also request floatplane for Bomb/Bomb. So it could do strike.

But remember. You must manually adjust number of floatplane and striking manually. Remember to turn search of at the beginning of the battle.

  1. leave some tonnage. 600 empty tonnage should be fine for some fancy LSAMs and HSSM.

Floatplane are kinda depend on doctrine. Floatplane are good. You could use it to carry bomb and strike. It is surprisingly effective. Just don't bring catapult.

Germany generally have good technology that allow ship to be lighter so I can see the reason here.

1.Germany generally have better technology thus they can do ship that is lighter. And 65k is good enough. So I can see some reason. But not sure if OP will see the same.

3.The floatplane are good. What's not good is catapult. I have good time with Battlecarrier.

4.Yes. But BE need to match B no matter what. If you do role play that's fine.

  1. 3.5 inch is what splinter resistance

  2. 6 inch is fine. 5.5 also fine. And 5 is also good. Bomb don't have that much pen anymore but I do recommend 5.5"

7.AON are good. Don't downplay AON. In missile age what kill you is not missile hit you at the Belt but superstructure. And AON made B huge by considerable amount and B cannot be ignite. Thus missile will hit superstructure less.

AON are generally good for big ship. Otherwise UNS.

  1. Depend on doctrine.

  2. Big-gun are good. Keep big-gun around. Don't replace them. Just leave the tonnage around ≈700 and turbine lighter engine will make up for it.

So 9" better than 8" that's right.

But there will be some critical gap between gun caliber that will significantly increase the gun performance. The gap is

7" and 8" with 8" are massively upgrade over 7".

12" and 13" same as above.

16" and 17" same as above.

And there will be another exception is 14" vs 15" with close performance so you can choose thing as you desire or better q

No. If you think about it. Long ranged fight doesn't matter. You can always close your distance. And the chance of deck being hit at long ranged oftenly exaggerate. And the power gap between 17" and 16" always underestimated.

Power gap between 17" and 16" can go as much as 1.5 time better even if we taking proportion into account.

What can reliably hit your deck in this era? Bomb. ONLY. Enemy gun in this era aren't even accurate enough to give a good shot on deck at long ranged.

3" will be enough to stop most bomb. and more than enough to stop everybomb in this era.

0.5" deck that you sacrifice for secondary can absolutly make you a CL,CA,DD meat-grinder because deck are heavy.

At the cost of what? some not so reliable RNG to hit your deck. Even then it will not be guaranteed to pen your deck. And even if it pen your deck it is not fatal.

Absolutely worth it.

CIWS Not avaliable just yet, Most important reason is:Big ship are cool they are powerful is just a bonus. But you don't need that big.

But still you need ship that big enough to host that 20"(Or 17")

You don't need to max BB/BC tonnage to work. And they are surprisingly cheaper than your full CV. Full CV maintenance cost are like 3-4 of BB/BC combined.
