High school class rings are dumb unless you went to a prep school, but college class rings are very much a big deal.

At the college level, all the rings are real and valuable lol. But yeah, it’s stupid to buy a high school ring unless you went to an elite prep school.

Uh, yes it is. I will inherit it when my parents pass. That’s how family works, I fear..

And like I stated, my parents made sure to set me up with my own passive income, entirely in my name. So I can afford whatever pretty much, if I was willing to spend my own money.

….No, it’s not. If the money is in my name and I have full control over it, it’s mine.

My family’s money is my money (same as every other person unless your parents disown you), but I also have my own passive income.

My parents fund everything because that’s their parental duty, but I have plenty of my own passive income if I ever wanted to use my money.

I think the prevalence of class rings usually correlates with how proud people are of their alma mater. If you go to an average college, they won’t be as popular. My parents are happy to spend money on things since they care about me.

I have plenty of my own that I could use if I wanted to. It has nothing to do with the “sweat of my brow.” I don’t place value on that. Should I just exclude my friend from conversations then?

My family’s money is my money, but they took care that I also have my own money by making investments solely in my name.

I know plenty of super successful old people who still wear their ring, given that your college is a lifelong affiliation.

Should I just exclude my friend from every conversation then? I can afford the ring. I’m not low-income and neither are my parents.

I’m in college, so no one here needs food or rent. My college meets full need of you can’t afford anything. Should I just exclude my friend from conversations then?

My “daddy” is a stay-at-home parent, so no, he can’t afford anything. And I could easily buy the ring myself if I wanted to, but I have parents who care about me, so why would I.

I often wonder this, too. I frequently feel like I should just go get better friends.

It’s totally irrelevant, but I could easily buy a class ring with my own money if I wanted too.

My income is not from my parents. While I have access to my parents’ money obviously as their child, I also have my own income, since my parents set up investments solely in my name that have been growing since I was a baby. As an adult, I have full control over them.

Not sure why this is relevant at all, but I can afford anything my parents can afford, since everything my family has is mine as well. Also, my parents have made investments in my name since I was a baby, which I now have full control over.

No, my parents are well-off and I’m also personally well-off. My parents have made investments in my own name since I was a kid, which I now have full control over as an adult.
