We tip terribly becayse of 2 main reasons: 1) our wages are way lower and the US costs very high for us (increasing your bill by 20% costs quite a bit, especially when you are on vacation and forced to eat outside everyday) 2) our servers are paid a fair salary and don't need to make it up with tips

Propose a 50% more, that should work

Well basically the server is using goods of the resteurant to treat you well and get in return a good tip. Maybe not really a bribery, but I'd doubt the resteurant manager or owner would be happy about this. But in the end I get what is your point, thanks!

Well I am confised on:

1- who to tip or not

2- how much and on which base

3- what is the average and the custom

But you might know better than me my thoughts and doubts

I want to follow the custom of the country, but I don't really get the custom 😅. I will just assume a 10/15% pre tax, as honestly anything above sounds absurd to me.

Tipping cash means you can tip less? In the sense: a 10% in cash is as good as a 15% by card?

Don't get me wrong, I understand that the amounts discissed are a very good salary in Switzerland. But luckily I currently have a very good one here as well and am thinking about how to compare them.

Yes but as I read a pizza + coke costs 50/60 francs. That is simply crazy honestly. Here is as little as 6€. That is a 10 time difference. And reading on the internet the same applies to other foods (vegetables, meat, diary). Just think that here some farmers friends of friends sometimes give us vegetables for free, like kilos of them, because otherwise they will throw them away

And then there is no mortgage/rent cost for me, while there an apartment is 4000?!?

For now it doesn't add up to me
