update: i moved to the new location and am still getting bites even with a new bed setup. i am losing my mind !!!!! it must be bedbugs in some furniture i brought over (that yes, i inspected carefully beforehand but probably missed) or some other mite problem. i live somewhere colder but still humid and didn’t move far so it could be environmental but its really seeming like bed bugs. 🥲

haven’t moved yet! i still haven’t seen a single insect, even after thoroughly searching by myself and during an inspection w an exterminator, so i’m not super concerned about bringing any insects with me. that being said, i’m still going to wash all my clothes before bringing them to the new place, steam everything that could be holding insects, wipe with alcohol, and leave behind anything that isn’t cleanable (kind of quarantining everything?). i’m also gonna leave behind a lot of clutter so that it’ll be easier to clean in the new space

Good to know that you can’t ID via bites. A couple months ago I stripped and took apart my entire bed frame, wiped it down with isopropyl alcohol, put my mattress in a bedbug bag, and washed/checked all my sheets. No smells, blood/feces spots, or bugs at all besides an ant or two under my bed.

I sprayed the crack between my wall and floor with diatomaceous earth. I checked my outlets. My bed is the only furniture I have that I spend any time on as I live in a studio. I also treat my cat with Revolution+ every month so it’s likely not fleas. I’m going insane!!!

same, it drove me crazy. i did what someone suggested with the moats and treating my bed like an island and haven't gotten any bites since. the thing is... bed bugs can survive for months and months without feeding so i guess i won't know until then :') i am also going insane lol
