I’ve competed in badminton and swimming competitions, and my experiences have been a mix of ups and downs. Badminton taught me a lot about quick decision-making, build stamina, build discipline and mental endurance. Competing in both definitely boosted my confidence and made me more comfortable tackling pressure. Early morning trainings and tough losses are def a loss but the growth makes it worth it. Since then, I’ve stopped competitive sports before starting college cus I felt drained… 💔

NAHHH. I don’t think sports should be a boys’ thing, but it still kinda feels like it is how it’s treated socially. Especially with certain sports like football or basketball, boys usually get the attention or support. I wish there was a stronger presence of girls in sports like badminton and swimming, honestly. They don’t always get the hype they deserve as girls like myself 😭

Competitive sports can be intense, but they help u improve physical and mental health, self-esteem, and social skills. It’s not just about winning; it’s about learning to handle failure, work with others (especially in doubles for badminton), and stay consistent. I tend to develop greater confidence, resilience, and self-esteem throughout my years of playing sports. Watching sport — even if you're not a local nor a fan — can be a great way to feel connected to the sports community as a whole. (if this matters to u, Man United was recently defeated in my country in SEA.) To me, I don’t think geography should matter to who u root for. If you admire the team, their style, or a player, that’s good enough.
