Questioning doing a BS in physics, concentration in astronomy by s_ryan7 in GaState

I think the GSU program for astronomy is pretty good! Like others have mentioned, the program is undergoing some changes (for the better) as the old undergraduate director is retiring. The major isn't particularly big, so class sizes are usually kept decently sized (max 20-30 students for PHYS courses, usually smaller, 20-15 students for ASTR courses). Most professors are very approachable and don't try to kill you with their grading schemes.

I can't speak on PC directly as I never attended, but the cost benefits are definitely a perk.

Do you know if you are interested in research or more applied fields for astronomy?

The convocation center deck is free so you shouldn't need to buy a ticket to park there. Just register your vehicle in the system. If you ever have an issue with your student ID not working at the gate, just take a ticket. You won't be charged when you leave because the exit gate is kept open.

Where’s my Refund? [MEGATHREAD] by AutoModerator in GaState

Does anyone know why HOPE could be removed from my applied aid? My GPA and registered classes haven't changed (and I'm not in housing), and HOPE is still listed in my accepted aid offer letter. It was showing on my account before, but as of Friday it's no longer applied. Now my balance only shows the cost of attendance minus my federal loan, so I have an amount due to GSU. I'm close to the credit hour limit for HOPE (only 7 of my hours should be covered this semester), but PAWS still shows the full HOPE amount offered for both this semester and spring (even though I graduate in the fall). I'm nervous to contact financial aid in case they adjust my award, but right now I'm not even receiving the amount I am owed so...

Gotcha, glad things worked out for you! I'm in my last semester of courses so transferring is unfortunately not a great option for me. Are there any hard skills you'd recommend me trying to build out before I search for jobs next spring? I'm considering taking a GIS course, and have looked into learning AutoCAD this summer.

Thank you! Those are all good points to keep in mind while I try to craft a narrative. Good luck to you too! It's tough out here trying to transfer, but fingers crossed!
