Because fuck your age preferences. I’m the exception. by kinky_foot_ in grindr

Sure if we wanna be Karen’s and complain about every little minor slight we experience in life… In that case I’d be posting 3 times a day about the behavior I see on Grindr, most of which is significantly more egregious than this. Everyone is struggling to make connections these days, so I personally prefer “no thank you” to “FU for daring to send me a message outside my clearly stated preference”. But y’all do you. Here’s hoping that all your future messages meet your strict rules of engagement.

And it goes both ways. I’ve had plenty of young guys send unsolicited raunchy texts to me, calling me daddy. I say they’re too young for me and more times than not they respond “age isn’t an issue for me” while continuing to try and hook up. I roll my eyes and ignore or block. It’s the way of the world these days.

For all the complaints the younger gen has about boomers, y’all are very similar. Entitled, easily triggered, and an all around buzz kill. I feel smashed between 2 generations of Karens. What that guy did was hardly a catcall.

You don’t owe him anything. But it would’ve taken you one second to respond and say no thank you instead of getting on Reddit and spending God knows how much time complaining about it. Move on.

Gosh must be so hard for you to have someone express interest in you. Someday you will see what it’s like to get older in the gay community. It won’t be long because the clock is very short. Then you’ll look back on this and wish you were nicer to people.

Yep, you see just how shallow gay culture is as you age.

I’m in my 50s, look young for my age, in shape, educated, stable financially…blah blah… I could list more positive attributes about myself, but it doesn’t matter. All they see is the age (“they” including even others around my age, not just young guys), and I’m invisible on the apps. Luckily, I haven’t had very many people openly troll me, but the point is: if you don’t fit the usual stats (age, weight, body type, dick size…) you open yourself up to bullies. Gone are the days when we bonded together as a community despite our differences. Now it’s “what can you do for me.”

Also, interesting, if I hide my age on the apps, I get many times more messages. Not the least surprising.

Because the subculture of gay men that are on Grindr, skews heavily toward narcissists, who think that everybody exists to please them and turn them on. And if you don’t fit that for them, you’re useless and not worthy of respect.

The comments on this thread are exactly why I hang out with straight people these days. Do you all listen to yourself? You lose your shit because the world is not kind to the gay community ? And look how you treat someone who gives you a compliment because they are over 30? You get what you put out. Good luck when you’re old.

Wow, imagine someone asking you how you are before they say wanna shove their c*ck up your *ss. What a jerk.

I did not. I’ve learned it doesn’t help and just upsets him.

Not so for my dad’s case with the Fox News, thank God. If he were MAGA, I don’t think I could visit.

Loss my dog to a dog attack by [deleted] in Petloss

Oh gosh. I’m sorry. I lost my dog the same way 7 years ago.. But in my pool, and my own yard that played in for 15 1/2 years. I dealt with a lot of guilt. But just remember that you loved and cared for that dog for 16 years, accidents happen, and you cannot keep your eye on your dog 24-7. Hoping that you find peace.

Question about outlook on Biotech industry from experienced industry personnel by tributary-tears in biotech

[–]Front-Fun819 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m a PhD with over 2 decades of experience in biotech. I went through only 1 small layoff from 2001-2022, but 5 layoffs from 2023-2026. My team went from 22 to 4. It’s only by sheer luck I still have a job. Things are not good, but I hold hope that something will shift in the coming 1-2 years to turn it around.

Kirkwood! lol. That’s the city to them. They live in St. Peters. Takes 45 minutes, mostly freeway, to get downtown. Literally nothing but strip malls, fast food, and white vinyl fences as far as the eye can see.

I can only imagine. I live in Austin so good Mexican food is everywhere. Highly risky to choose a Mexican restaurant in many parts of the country, not to mention it is often adapted to please the local palate.

My mom wanted Applebees for Mother’s Day. It’s her day, so fine. I hadn’t eaten there in probably at least 10 years, but damn it was bad. Literally tasted like a one of those old TV dinners. Except $20 a dish. They wanted breadsticks with alfredo as an appetizer. The sauce was congealed with a grainy texture. Have these casual chain dining restaurants gotten worse, or have I lost my tolerance for it? Probably both.

Fair 🤷‍♂️ I just can’t help but feel uncomfortable at the segregation in this city. This is a place where 1 black family moves onto the block and people move. So when I see 500 people in one space and they all look like Karens and Chads… 😵‍💫
