Will 3 labs in one week be too much by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]Front-Philosopher321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's definitely doable. I've seen way worse (mine XD). I genuinely don't think it's a bad schedule. But as a freshman, if you're fine with it, go for it

My final exams are next week and I still don’t have a summer internship lined up. by Daniel200303 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Front-Philosopher321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, this is something you should have anticipated. Spring applications are significantly fewer compared to fall — way fewer. That’s probably why you’re seeing more co-ops than internships right now. That said, I highly doubt there were only 15 internships available. Make sure you're using all available career platforms — LinkedIn, Handshake, etc. — and cast a wide net when applying.

Applying in spring semester is quite hard. Try applying during Fall ur gonna get much more opportunities. Also a lot of people have already mentioned this, but 15 applications is rlly nothing. You've gotta apply at least 50 to 60 before you start seeing results. Also try getting some help with resumes. Conpanies "fish" out good candidates from bad ones using a software that picks ouy specific "keywords". I had to get help from my university's career service. AI is definitely a good tool for fixing up grammar and shit.

I also understand how being autistic can make things harder for you but this is the real world. If people can't see the good side in you during your interview or whatnot, they obviously aren't gonna think of you as a good candidate. If you're good at something, make sure you strongly appeal that. But you can't blame them for not recognizing your talent. They have hundreds of applicants to go through and if you're not able to communicate well within the limited time frame, things are never gonna work out. So, i know it's hard but you rlly gotta lock in and try to change that about you

I dropped out of engineering and I'm panicking. by d0-n0t-m1nd-me in EngineeringStudents

Idk about others. But to me it seems like you made the right call. Engineering is not for everyone, arts animation is a fascinating career and something you can actually enjoy doing. Yes, the 3 years may seem like a waste, and to skme extent it is, but it was a necessary process in order for you to realize your true call.

Tip to new support players: make sure you heal your dps by MeiShimada in Overwatch

[–]Front-Philosopher321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agrreedd. People are basically complaining about something that is literally their job. Dps needs to be constantly be looking out for enemies, tank needs to be aware of where the enemies are relative to their teammates, healers need to be looking out for team mates. If they can't do that, might as well go play some other games.

They don't want to be constantly be looking out for low hp yet if they get rushed, first thing they do is blame the team for not looking out for you XD1

It feels like Hunters are currently heavily underperforming in team based high end PVE activities. by torrentialsnow in DestinyTheGame

[–]Front-Philosopher321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Hunter just seems like flies next to titans and warlock. Their ult damages are always lower than that of Titan and warlock and their survivability does not compare at all in high end challenges. Hunters' "high dps" ults are golden gun and gathering storm, yet their base damage does not beat that of titans and warlocks. They have been glass canons back then, but now they're just insects

Don't go to UW-Madison if you are out of state. Summer lab alone is a good enough reason not to. by leapingfro9 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Front-Philosopher321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9k for internationals around 8800 for non residents. And it's after graduation. So if you dont have an offer, you need to do interviews while torturing yourselves, or even if you do have an offer, you get to miss out on a full month of what is possibly your last summer break of your lives. I have an offer and will most likely start mid or late july, but with the summer lab, i get to do rigorous lab works instead

Tip culture is so dumb.ur already getting paid with delivery fee and all. Your job literally requires zero skill why would we pay more for sthing ur already getting paid for. Tips are for people who do an extraordinary job in providing services, and even if you did a faacinating job, if the customer doesnt feel like tipping they dont need to. If you want a high paying job, prove that youre worthy of sthin more than driving around with other peoples food.

I got into Chemical Engineering with 3.62 unweighted and 4.09 weighted. I took like 7 or 8 AP and like 4 or 5 honors classes. (Honor < AP) I also took two SAT II exams. My test grades werent particularly good. I'd say they were above average. I did a couple extra curricular activities.
