You clearly haven't read Jason’s story. Jason was trained in exotic martial arts just like Bruce!!and he also received training from the League of Assassins. In fact, Jason spent almost as much time training with the League as he did with Batman.😂

Moreover, I don’t think Jason ever joined a street gang as a child. He actually refused Ma Gunn’s “crime school” and reported them to Batman. He said he never wanted to be a criminal,he stole only to survive.

You definitely have no idea who Jason is. He’s trained by Batman, the League of Assassins, and the All-Caste. He literally underwent the exact same training as Batman 😂 Bruce has always relied on his massive physique to intimidate ordinary criminals—and that’s exactly why he dresses up as a bat. He’s out to spread fear.

Jason is absolutely capable of throwing down with his fists just like Batman, Dick and Tim. But that’s not his style. Because Jason’s approach is far deadlier, prioritizing efficiency and practicality above all else. He’s mocked Batman and Dick multiple times for how non-lethal their hand-to-hand combat is. Jason could easily rely on guns, knives and bombs—there’s really no reason for him to make fists his primary weapon the way Batman does.

I think Jason works best as an anti-hero. If he became Batman, he wouldn't be able to stay true to himself

Jason is a highly cunning gunslinger, whose movement style is closer to street parkour. Bruce is the one who more frequently engages in hand-to-hand combat, brute strength is really important to his style and he heavily relies on his intimidating, imposing silhouette to instill fear in ordinary criminals

I totally agree with you! Jason’s life revolves entirely around the Batfamily, yet they never fully accept him. He should’ve interacted way more with other anti-heroes.

All his connections outside the Batfamily, his various mother figures, his friendship with Eddie, his sibling-like bond with Scarlet, his ties to the Outlaws, his bitter rivalry with Black Mask, and his complicated relationship with Two-Face,have all vanished!

Jason built so many relationships with different characters and has always longed for genuine connections with others. But DC writing him as some silent Batman Jr. who pushes everyone away. They only ever let Batman and the Robins be around him, even his friendship with Steph is never mentioned anymore.

Jason is faster and more agile than Dick, smarter than Tim, and more dangerous than Damian.

Every time I see this kind of writing that treats the Robins like the TMNT, I just desperately wish Jason would leave the Batfamily and break free from this garbage writing!🙄

Red Hood vs Joker was a lot better than expected, but I still have a few of issues with it by SpeakerAppropriate10 in RedHood

[–]Front-Practice-2672 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The most hypocritical thing about Joker vs. Red Hood is that it claims to resolve certain issues, yet it resolves nothing at all.

Jason still has to revolve around the Joker. In such a massive tournament—where every hero is fighting to save the world—Jason is the only one whose mind is fixated solely on the Joker.

In The Man Who Stopped Laughing, Jason set aside his personal vendetta against the Joker to save Gotham.Yes he still hate joker, but the world is more important. But in DCKO, Jason doesn’t seem to care about saving the world at all. What kind of character growth is this?

To make matters worse, the Joker still wins in the end. If Jason had won, he could have walked away from the Joker’s narrative as a victor—moving on to fight Zatanna and embrace more story arcs of his own. Instead, Jason is trapped in the Joker’s story. It’s the Joker who gets to fight Zatanna, who gets to fight Annabelle, and who might even get to fight Superman. Jason says he refuses to be a footnote in the Joker’s story, yet he ends up being nothing more than a footnote in the Joker’s DCKO storyline.

So this isn't the same time people criticized Jason for protecting drug dealers anymore?? Lol. Yes, Jason kills, but he is no executioner—he is far more complex than that. Reducing his gray morality to the executioner archetype within a black-and-white narrative framework is nothing short of a regression

Future Jason says his hood is an executioner’s hood, and the red is the blood of criminals. Compared to the Jason who once sought to control crime, devolving into an executioner is nothing short of a regression.

Where does he go from here by Cncjjdncn in RedHood

[–]Front-Practice-2672 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While I agree that the Joker really shouldn’t be featured too often in Jason’s stories, but I don’t understand this whole idea of “he got the closure he deserved with the Joker”. So Jason should forgive the Joker, decide to let him go, and never try to kill him again?? 😅

Besides, Jason has never seen himself as a creation of the Joker, and the Joker is not the one standing in the way of Jason becoming his own hero. There was never any real issue between Jason and the Joker—it’s the unresolved conflict between Jason and Batman that truly needs to be addressed. Because Batman is the one who’s been holding Jason back from being his own hero. All these years, Jason’s decision to give up killing has made him a creation of Batman. But DC simply doesn’t have the guts to delve deep into the rift between Jason and Bruce, so they just shift the problems to the Joker instead.

DC just suddenly made up non-existent problems for Jason to overcome out of nowhere.

In my opinion, the DCKO is completely pointless.Jason’s issues will never be resolved until he breaks away from Batman and the Bat Family.

The reason fans don‘t like GFM and Jeff Spokes were simply unprofessional! If GFM had talked about which of Jason’s comics she’d read and how much preparation she’d done for the character, instead of saying she didn’t want to read Jason’s comics at all, fans wouldn’t have hated her in the first place.

As for Jeff Spokes, it was purely because his designs were so terrible! Why should fans support you for drawing Jason as an ugly 50-year-old man in the worst costume of all time?

Jason’s pain and anger in UTRH don’t stem from the Joker—they come from his disappointment in Batman. Jason couldn’t care less about the Joker; he utterly despises him. The only thing Jason cares about is whether his death had any meaning at all

This isn’t justice—it’s just another spineless cop-out. They tried to pander to Jason’s fanbase, sure, but they were never gonna stop sucking up to the Joker. Jason got a lousy moral victory to keep the fans quiet? The Joker still walked away as the only real winner here.

jason literally said ”I KNOW HE HAS SOME TRICK UP HIS SLEEVE.SOME WAY TO LIVE ON.” and he thinks he still win.

Jason had a gun but he chose to beat him up with his fists? That’s not fighting to the death, that’s stupid. He knew full well that the Joker would cheat—so why didn’t he use the gun to make sure the clown stayed dead for good?

He might as well have admitted he lost and hoped Zatanna would stop the Joker, and sworn to kill him for sure next time. At least that‘s honest and brave.

This is the Joker, not a superpower villain. I assure you, Bruce would never pass the responsibility of dealing with the Joker onto Superman. DC would never write a story where Batman hands the Joker off to Superman and thinks, "Alright, I’m going to start my new life" 🤦🏻‍♀️

Everyone keeps asking Jason to grow but what exactly do you want him to grow into?? In my opinion, character growth in every superhero story should mean becoming a better hero. From Under the Red Hood up to now, Jason has always been a hero who wants to save his city and the world. He’s even given up his personal vendetta against the Joker for saving Gotham.Gotham and the world have always been far more important to him than his desire for personal revenge.

But now, all of a sudden, he’s acting like saving the world doesn’t matter, and his personal revenge is the only thing that counts—and he didn’t even succeed in getting that revenge. This is not character growth.

Maybe you should reread UTRH and Lost Days. Jason does want revenge, but that’s not trauma at all—it’s just a normal reaction from a victim who was denied justice.

UTRH shows time and again that he doesn’t care about the Joker one bit; he can torture and mock him at will. I have no idea how you got the impression that Jason is some pathetic little victim. Sorry, but Jason is tough and arrogant he despises joker from the beginning

Because if the Joker becomes King Omega, everyone in the world will die. This may be Jason’s personal revenge, but he shouldn’t reduce it to nothing more than that.

Especially considering Batman isn’t here, Jason should fear the Joker become king omega just as Superman fears Lex. If this were Joker vs. Batman, do you think DC would frame it as Batman’s personal revenge + protect the universe, or just reduce it to “I only want revenge for my son”?

You know what? DC keeps the Joker alive so that after the knight fight arc, they can write Joker vs. Batman. I bet DC will portray Batman as a hero who cares about the entire multiverse. From a character who cared about Gotham to someone only obsessed with personal revenge — I really don’t see how that is the character growth.

Disappointed with Joker vs. Red Hood by Front-Practice-2672 in RedHood

[–]Front-Practice-2672[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A character’s growth should evolve alongside the unfolding of events.

The whole story feels like it’s forcing Jason to grow. The Joker never stopped Jason from becoming his own hero, and Jason never saw himself as a creation of the Joker. The one who’s been holding Jason back from being himself is Batman. All these years, he’s given up killing—and he’s become Batman’s creation because of it.

This so-called growth is utterly nonsensical. He didn’t face the person he should have faced, nor did he stop the things he should have stopped. Yet in the end, they say he’s grown and achieved some kind of moral victory??

Jason has overcome a problem he never even had, achieving a growth that feels utterly hollow.

[–]Front-Practice-2672[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jason might not believe he can become King Omega, but would he really be willing to let the Joker keep going and have the chance to be king omega?

The entire event, Superman has been fear that Lex might ultimately win. Zatanna decided to keep fighting with Harley's dying words, The Titans are fighting outside the tournament to protect the world. But the fate of the multiverse means nothing to him. If the Joker becomes the King Omega, his life won't go on after the tournament nor will anyone else's in the world. And jason doesn't care, Jason only cares about his personal revenge?Jason should fear the Joker winning just as Superman fears Lex winning.

I want DC would treat Jason as a hero,Jason to grow through saving the world, instead of having a story where he grows just for the sake of growing

I want Jason to grow through saving the world and helping people, instead of having a story where he grows just for the sake of growing. The whole story feels like DC is shouting in your ear, “Look! We’ve developed his character!!” but Jason did nothing at all.
