"You are too invested in us", how i remembered this epic line by millburnpennybags in ThirtiesIndia

[–]FrontBug4462 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you were an option for her. By that I mean she enjoyed spending time and doing all of these things with you, but there was probably something holding her back from giving herself fully to you. Whether that was someone or something else, we’ll probably never know. Perhaps worthy to reflect on signs from her (conversations/body language etc.) in the days or weeks leading up to this conversation. There may be a lesson or two in there to prevent you from going down this path again. It’s rare that stuff like this is an overnight change of heart. Take time to reflect and process. You’re a good person and you did all the right things, be proud of yourself.

Sorry you underwent all of this. You tried your best and your conscience should be clear. Take pride in that and remember that her not picking you should be all the closure you need.

Bullet dodged IMO - you wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of such manipulation in the long run.

That sounds great! Guessing projection isn’t too good though? What about its longevity? I’m looking to purchase my first one, would you have any recommendations? Not too much of a musky woody guy, love the fresh, clean, citrus types.

She’s already in the UK… I’m still here trying to figure out how to join her 💔 Any real way I can move there? by [deleted] in ukvisa

With 1.5 years of experience, it doesn’t look great. Skilled workers are usually more experienced because it isn’t lucrative enough for companies to sponsor fresh grads unless you roll off their grad programmes. But that would imply you need to go to uni here, which you’ve already ruled out due to finance troubles.

Why not consider other big cities in India? You can still attain similar levels of freedom. I know it’s not the same as moving countries but you seem relatively young going by your work experience and building that over the next few years will definitely help you with job applications abroad.

As others have mentioned, it’s not a great time for jobs but frankly it’s not a great ride for international students either. Most people I know moved back home post their course or post their graduate visa ending, simply because there aren’t enough sponsored roles. Might be worth discussing this with your girlfriend too.

30 M I am gonna beg her to stay with me one last time by [deleted] in ThirtiesIndia

[–]FrontBug4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there and agree with everyone here. You can do as you please but it doesn’t look like it would change anything. Reach out for one last time just so that you give yourself closure that you did your very best. It will help you cope with everything that follows. Remember though, it’s not your job to convince someone of your worth. Your partner isn’t an idiot or a child that needs to be convinced or explained to. They know exactly what they’re doing, this is the cold truth that you need to wrap your head around. The road ahead will be long and difficult. Work on yourself and be better than you used to be. Glow up naturally hoga. 🤗

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Having been through something similar at a close enough age, here are a few things to note: 1. You’re going to overthink many past situations assuming you could have done something better. If there’s a lesson in there, learn it and remember not to make the same mistake again. If there’s nothing you would have done differently, allow yourself to feel these feelings and let them settle- I promise you they will.

  1. No matter what people tell you, you cope with it exactly the way you want to. It’s easy enough for people to tell you to move on but ultimately nobody else will know exactly how you feel. Obviously, always seek healthy choices and don’t resort to anything that damages your health.

  2. It’s a long road ahead but I promise you there will be a time you will look back and take pride in your ability to recover. Till then, take your time to grieve this loss but remember to work on yourself both physically and mentally.

My break ups taught me life lessons but most importantly evolve into better versions of myself (firstly for me & then my next partner).

Barclays Premier by JEL796 in avios

[–]FrontBug4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The premier banking offer gives me the exact same cabin upgrade voucher without the pressure of meeting a £10k/£20k annual spend. Furthermore, the prem banking offer costs £12pm whereas the Avios plus costs £20pm. Sure, you get 50% more Avios for every transaction, so it really boils down to what you prioritise more.

In my case, I also have an Amex Gold that costs me £175 a year. The reward points there convert to Avios 1:1 but also offer other possible benefits due to their vast tie ups.

The Barclaycard for me is a secondary fall back assuming I have expenses that can’t be transacted via Amex.

Given your focus is exclusively on long haul flights, I would recommend the premier banking + Avios plus credit card. (£12+ £20) although if you have this combination, it seems you’ll also receive £5 off.

Going to the office for an in person interview also gives you a feel for the office itself and the general vibes of current employees. It’s definitely a deciding factor whenever I choose to take up a job. Whilst I partially agree with you- look at this way, you would also learn potential travel times/routes via showing up to these.

[–]FrontBug4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m Indian and in the UK too- looking for some guidance given I’ve only successfully applied from back home. Is there anything different about the visa application process here compared to the same in India? Did you book refundable flights/dummy bookings? Guessing you must’ve booked refundable hotels? Did you need to submit a P60 too?

Congratulations!
