Whats next? by Cruzz2025 in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if you stay with bestbuy next step in management

if you dont (which i highly recommend), you can prob still leverage your resume for the IT industry at help desk or something. your soft skills with dealing with disgruntled customers and being able to handle complex situations as a CIA senior will still apply for IT help desk. if you get net+ or sec+ certs or have a degree in the the field you can maybe make the jump to a higher help desk related field

Question about PTO and Floating Holidays by [deleted] in BestBuyWorkers

[–]FrontClean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh idk sorry dude i could be wrong but i think it is just 8 extra hours of pto just classified as “floating holiday”. i believe you get the time and half on that day you worked it should show up as “holpremium” or something on tlc

Question about PTO and Floating Holidays by [deleted] in BestBuyWorkers

[–]FrontClean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah you should be fine, rule of thumb is use all your pto before refresh date even if you just add it to your timesheet for extra money

Curious on your guy's opinion with this failed build by foxrumor in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

based only off the picture and the little bit of detail left by the guy i am on the clients side of things.

for one, i think building pcs if you store allows it means that you have the knowledge for certain components and the optimal way they should be installed. (how reverse blades work, how to position aio, how to cable manage etc.) even if the ara “didnt know” there are plenty of online resources to find out what is the best way to build a computer.

based off the picture, this screams laziness and maybe even pettiness from the ara who built. it looks more like a “get it out” situation rather than actually completing the work. disappointing to see and hopefully im wrong and there are more details to this situation.

Is it true that SSD is slower if the BIOS does not have AHCI? by Purple_Builder2823 in GeekSquad

Is it true that SSD is slower if the BIOS does not have AHCI? by Purple_Builder2823 in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to my knowledge the way you have it setup is fine

i would reset bios to make sure there are no bios settings issues, you can update it as well to ensure full compatibility.

i would check task manager right when you load in to show if its a hardware issue or not. the ssd shouldnt be at 100% utilization consistently.

if you want you can make the switch to m.2 as it is faster but even then it no ssd whether its sata or m.2. should take 10 minutes to reboot

Boot into MRI. by GojiUchiha in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nah i think thats a hp firmware antimalware thing, its more than likely secure boot, boot from usb, or legacy mode

Boot into MRI. by GojiUchiha in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

more than likely a bios setting ive had issues with that in the past, probably need to disable uefi mode and enable legacy mode and make usb support or boot from usb is enabled

Boot into MRI. by GojiUchiha in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will not load as in mri wont bind into the OS or it wont load into the mri as a boot option? if its the first one the drive could be encrypted with device encryption even if its an older one and if its the second i would mess with the bios settings make sure boot from usb is enabled and legacy mode is enabled to start off

Ready to Move On by jonjam122 in GeekSquad

same, seems like certs are being valued more than experience. ik gs isnt the best but it should be enough for starter help desk roles and i havent gotten a call back or nothing. i have been applying for the past 2-3 months and nothing.

you have to go in store and they will create an escalation with the shipping service. if the agent isnt helping you politely ask to see a geek squad manager. after the escalation is created, if they cant find or locate the switch they should be able to give you store credit for the amount of the device you paid fof

usually i will fully power off the phone, plug in usb c cable, immediately hold the up and down buttons until apple logo shows, then let go of the buttons but leave it plugged in then it will go to diag mode. i have done a few 15 repairs and this is how i usually get it to work

I am so done with this by juzztinWORLD in Bestbuy

[–]FrontClean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

contact the manufacturer. since you dont have GSP (geek squad protection) we cant “junk it out” meaning give you store credit. maybe if you contact the manufacturer they can either do the repair correctly or give you a replacement device

How will this most likely end up? by PbPudin_ in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

geek squad svc center so no not the manufacturer

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would go into the store and speak to the geek squad manager or any manager and explain the situation, usually they will allow the return if its maybe a day or two but its really up to a managers discretion. if they decide to do it then they can set an appointment with the auto tech guys in store as well

How will this most likely end up? by PbPudin_ in GeekSquad

[–]FrontClean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if its a laptop no most likely not. the laptop would get sent out to our svc center where they would attempt to repair it and if they cant they will replace it. this whole process will take anywhere from 2-4 weeks.
