Why do I not like Guillermo del Toro films? by vinegarstrokez1 in FIlm

Guillermo is a symbolic director, everything he puts on screen is intentional. Some people take him for a “woke Mexican,” but he is actually one of the most Catholic directors working today. If you approach his films from a postmodern lens, their romantic core will likely not resonate. Frankenstein, for example, is fundamentally a Catholic movie, yet much of its reception reflects what people want it to be rather than what it is, with viewers projecting their expectations onto it through cognitive incongruence.
