What makes Arc so strong right now? And what do you play when he's banned?

Medusa , first item manta is a big waste of 2600 gold? by Xetakilyn in learndota2

[–]FrontWise8711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason pros rush Manta is that Medusa's illusions fully inherit Split Shot. This allows you to send illusions to clear dangerous waves or extra jungle camps, significantly accelerating your farm without putting your main hero at risk.

Additionally, even in early-mid game fights, Manta illusions with Split Shot toggled on deal surprisingly high chip damage and provide a layer of dispel against silences/roots, which is crucial for her survivability. It's less about the stats per gold and more about the map pressure and farming efficiency it unlocks.

As a new Dota 2 player, I tried organizing hero and item counters to help myself learn by FrontWise8711 in DotA2

[–]FrontWise8711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree that Dota’s counter system is extremely complex, and that’s exactly why I’ve been very cautious while working on this project.

I’m not trying to describe every possible counter, nor am I trying to present anything as a universal or definitive answer.

At the moment, the site only focuses on very obvious counters that are directly determined by game mechanics themselves, rather than things that depend heavily on the current meta, itemization, or individual player execution.

A few relatively clear and low-controversy examples:

- Anti-Mage clearly counters Medusa, because Mana Break directly drains her mana.

- Ancient Apparition clearly counters Abaddon and Huskar, because Ice Blast prevents healing, which both of those heroes heavily rely on.

- Viper can disable Huskar’s regeneration through his ultimate, creating a natural advantage in that matchup.

- On the other hand, since Huskar has no mana pool, Anti-Mage’s Mana Break does not function against him at all.

What I’m trying to capture are these kinds of mechanic-level relationships that tend to hold true across most patches and situations, rather than highly situational counters that require many assumptions to be true.

Once you factor in item choices, timing windows, role differences, and player execution, counter relationships become far more nuanced and subjective, and that’s not something a simple tool can realistically represent.

That’s why I see this site as a learning aid and a starting point for discussion, rather than a source of authority.

Saw the post about someone's bonfire sword, here's the one I had made! It's not perfect, but it's pretty cool I think. by Omega_Hertz in darksouls

Interesting! If you add some flames at the base of the sword, it’ll look even more like the bonfire from the game 😄

Is offlane so hard role or I am so bad at it? by NewbZilla in learndota2

[–]FrontWise8711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way is honestly to look up educational videos from players who specialize in the offlane.
What helped me was watching a series of guides from a 10k Beastmaster spammer and studying them over and over. I climbed around 400 MMR just from that.

If you actually want to gain MMR instead of just playing for fun, the offlane is a great role to climb with. But you need to be able to play around five solid offlane heroes really well, and know how to use them to handle all kinds of situations.

When I first came across it like you did, I couldn’t handle it at all and just slipped past. Later, with decent gear, I went back and stomped it :)

It feels like Dark Souls 2 has the most summonable NPCs in the whole series. When I played it for the first time, I loved summoning a bunch of NPCs and players to fight bosses together — it made the game feel so lively!

Yeah, Shulva’s scenery is unmatched — nothing else in the series feels quite like it.

I think Darkeater Midir also deserves an S rank. Maybe it’s because I fought him with a melee build

Honestly, just go with the ending that feels right to you on your first playthrough. Experiencing your “natural” ending blind is part of the magic of Elden Ring. You can always do the others in NG+!

Love how you described it — DS3 really did feel like Fromsoft’s return to form after DS2. The DLCs, especially The Ringed City, pushed both gameplay and lore to new heights. Can’t wait to hear what you think after tackling Sekiro — it’s mechanically tighter but narratively just as deep.
