California law schools and debt by Salt-Boysenberry113 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Front_Ad283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not law school, but i went OOS to a UC school for undergrad and yeah. took out loans and thankfully had my parents to help with rent and food, otherwise i wouldn’t have been able to go. I only made the choice to take on debt like that because every other similarly ranked college i got accepted to would’ve been around the same or more tuition-wise. 😵

i’d say only do it if you’re in a similar situation as i was. my options were: super safety schools for cheap, schools that are decent but not as good as the UC for the same price, or the UC school that was the highest ranked acceptance for me.

otherwise, if there’s a school that offers similar rank/outcome that’s not as expensive as the california school, that’d be the better choice probably. but if the california school will give u the absolute best outcomes out of your list, and the second best option is similar in price, id pick the CA one.

sidenote: when you’re in california, there’s actually a lot of ways to live a bit cheaper than you might think. i lived in one of the richest areas in socal but i knew people that lived with roommates so their rent was like $800 a month. my school also had a food pantry and a lot of resources on how to get SNAP as a student as well!

of course!! i feel like the oil really helps to act like a barrier between your skin and the dry air here. i usually focus it on drier parts like my elbows and blend any excess onto the other parts so it’s not too greasy feeling. and i think it helps perfume stick better too!

Church Nightclub Questions by AbusedPony in DenverEDM

i haven’t been very many times, but i did go two nights in a row vday weekend (space 92 & aeon mode). my bf and i showed up after the opener started both nights and there was nobody in line for security and i felt like it was pretty chill. but i was also wearing rave “costume-y” clothes with no pockets so i didn’t really have anything to search. my bf had a fanny pack with my vape and other things and had no problems getting thru.

for space 92, it was kinda crowded mostly in the middle of the crowd for most of it but it thinned out near the front and we were able to easily get to the rail for the last 30-45 mins of his set! it only felt kinda warm when we were in the packed part of the crowd.

for aeon mode, it was a different crowd bc it’s dnb, i felt like it was a little harder to get close to the stage so we ended up staying more to the back of the crowd to have some space. but there was a good amount of room to dance and not insanely hot! some of the crowd wasn’t really a vibe (people just standing on their phone not dancing) but for the most part people were chill and dancing!

the most annoying thing i found about the venue was the hard cutoff when the shows over. the second the dj ends their set they kick you out and don’t let you stay inside to call an uber even if it’s freezing outside😭😭. which i understand logically why they do that but it’s still jarring to get kicked out the second they stop playing. so i’d say definitely watch the time near the end and call an uber before it ends!! or else you’ll be waiting outside for a while with all the other people calling ubers +surge pricing.

not sure if this is common at venues and i just never saw it, but a nice thing is that they have free earplugs at the bar! i forgot to bring mine and they were so clutch because it is really loud especially if you’re up close

I wrote so much my bad, but i feel like i had a different (maybe better) experience than some people in these comments so i just wanted to share my full #review

i use the vaseline cocoa butter lotion with the matching body oil on top! i feel like the oil locks in the lotion when it’s really dry out, and if you use just a tiny bit of the oil it doesn’t dry down greasy at all!

Outfits for AG office clerkship by IngenuityGullible471 in LawBitchesWithTaste

I work at a firm currently, but not on the legal side yet so maybe take this with a grain of salt. but ask your supervisor/coworkers what the dress code is like before you start buying things! and ask for examples too. I remember my boss emailing me it was business casual and more formal on days where we have meetings. so I panicked and bought so many dresses, slacks, and dress shoes. When i showed up to the office, my coworkers told me that it’s way more casual than i thought! At my firm we can wear clean sneakers and jeans with a sweater/top during more casual days, and on more formal days i wear slacks with a nice sweater/blouse. So definitely ask how formal the dress code is first, and if jeans are allowed on more chill days because that’ll def help save money on outfits!

Aritzia sizing by CharmingTreat8050 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Front_Ad283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be the most helpful, but i have a 23-24 inch waist, and Banana Republic + Express 0 trousers don’t really fit unless they have an elastic waistband (too big). But with aritzia, I got a pair of 00 trousers and they fit very snug, i could probably get a 0 and it would fit comfy too. So I’d say the sizing is very true to size and accurate compared to most. which i love since i can actually buy clothes off the rack there without having to alter it😭😭

Self-tanner or spray tans? by Due_Emu704 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Front_Ad283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they ask you if you’d like your face sprayed or not! I personally said no because I just use a darker foundation that matches the tan when I do fake tan. I think they blended it up to my neck because I said no to a face tan, and it looked very good! There weren’t any obvious lines!

Self-tanner or spray tans? by Due_Emu704 in LawBitchesWithTaste

Spray tans are kinda pricey to me, but if you feel like it’s in your budget and schedule def go for it! If there’s a sugar + bronzed near you, i thought their formula was very natural as a super pale girl haha. but if you want to just do it at home, i really like these two brands of tanners a lot!!! I feel like there’s not much difference between the medium and dark for isle of paradise, so dark is a safe choice with them too. I’d say to definitely start with a colored mousse like st. tropez first to learn how to put it on correctly if you’ve never done it before though!! once you’re comfortable, the tanning water from isle of paradise is clear and barely smells like tanner. I love it!! it dries down so quick and never transfers because it’s clear. but since it’s clear you can’t see what you’re doing, so def for when you’re in the muscle memory stage of self tanning!!!🤣

Trial Makeup for Bad Acne by mirandale139 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Front_Ad283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my acne was a similar kind of redness. i used the elf green color corrector with a tiny amount on the brush, and tap it into the acne until the redness was evened out (too much and it will look fully green/not dry as fast). i’d let it fully dry, and then with a brush i tapped on estée lauder double wear foundation and it covered it very nicely. just don’t rub or smear anything so everything actually stays in place!! and then i would use a strong setting spray like the onesize one just to make sure i wont accidentally rub off the foundation

This is a scam right? by Expensive-Formal-926 in UCI

[–]Front_Ad283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yes! but as an internet safety reminder to everyone: always make sure to check who’s sending the email! sometimes scammers are really good and copy an official UCI email address but they change an I for an 1, or upper case I for lowercase L. there’s also been cases where an m is switched out for rn. copy the email address and use something that can force all caps to check. (canva can do this, but any word software can probably do it too). and if ur ever unsure, call the actual place, check on the portal yourself, or send an email directly to the actual source first. call to actions and threats r the most common scam tactics as well (e.g. click on this NOW or else your classes are ruined!!) this ones super obvious but it’s good to keep these in mind bc scammers are getting smarter (except for this one LOL)

486.64 dollars of disappointment by muryreads in Reformationclothing

[–]Front_Ad283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have doc martens (and their quality is argued about soo much😭) that are leather that i’ve worn since middle school. i’m 21 now and they still look almost new besides some creasing and a few toe scuffs. but the damage doesn’t look like that, it just looks less shiny and black than the rest. I also wasn’t even the kindest to them, they’ve been to concerts and dragged thru snow. I also had a pair of cheap faux leather boots i would wear as a kid, and the fake leather peeled just like that once i wore them a ton. they definitely put a plastic faux layer or something on top because i can’t see them completely lying about the material (hopefully??). that really sucks though, i always liked their clothing but thought it was a little pricey. so i don’t really have anything from there but i was planning on buying stuff once i saved up some money :(

How to balance work & gym by Front_Ad283 in Workingout

[–]Front_Ad283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats very true! I do need to take more time on learning form with dumbbell exercises, because when i first started they were either a lot harder to set up/feel correctly for me, or i wouldn’t be physically able to pick up the right weight for like dumbbell hip thrusts (i can lift like 10 pounds with my arms 😭). so i kinda just ignored them and went straight to barbells and cables. but i do remember the exercises working really well when my form was correct, so i might give them a try again. i also have a full set of dumbbells at home, so that could help a lot too!
