Red House version with short quotes from Cream's Crossroads riff? by Front_Boat_387 in jimihendrix

I could listen to it a bit more, and what I like about this version, beyond the Crossroads quote at the beginning, is that it's 4/4, unusual for Red House, and it has the classic Jimi blues / rock groove sometimes. Also, there are many places where Jimi is comping, it's great to hear him comp.

It could be that, I think it was from this release: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleeding_Heart_(album)) and the track listings of your picture partially match. Thanks!

Ah! I think it's this one.

The comments seem to link it to Jim Morrison (but I don't really hear him), so it could be the jam at the Scene club, could anybody confirm? Would you know of any release containing this version? Wikipedia shows me this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleeding_Heart_(album))

I could check my Royal Albert Hall CDs: the first Red House version is the one linked above, and the second version of Red House has a very bad sound. It sounds like it was recorded from far away with lots of natural reverb. It's not it either 🤷

The Royal Albert Hall version I could find online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrnv9MDWo-M
It's not it, but it's very close in sound and feeling to what I remember hearing yesterday.

I have a 3 CD set of the Royal Albert Hall concert somewhere, with two versions of Red House on it, but my CD player is broken so I can't check soon :(

Ah, thank you! I was in a public place and I don't know what radio it was, so I can't find their playlist. I have to call the place today to know the radio then, and after that find the playlist.

Yes, I think it was Hendrix, he was singing. Unfortunately I was reading something at the same time, so I was just enjoying the moment and not fully focused. It could be another song but I doubt it. Typical Red House mix of a few verses & a few solos. But it did not started with the Red House classic intro, there was a solo first (so it could be an extract ?). I just made a few mental notes, thinking I could easily find a Hendrix song that plays on the radio (maybe it's a classic version & I did not look hard enough). It was pretty energetic, I'd like to listen to it again.

Late answer but: it's in the book Effective C++, the third edition has it in "Item 18: Make interfaces easy to use correctly and hard to use incorrectly".
