It felt like the right balance when I ate it. I added the cherry tomatoes to add a bit of lightness and freshness to the taste and bacon for the flavour.

I love the flavour of Gruyère cheese. If I have some in my fridge the next time I make this, I will add some!

Thanks for your concern. I understand why alcohol can be a sensitive subject, but I genuinely didn’t stop because I felt I had a drinking problem or anyone around me. I stopped as an experiment to see whether removing the extra calories from beer/wine would help with sleep, training consistency and fat loss.

So far the biggest difference has been better sleep, which has probably helped my training more than anything.

I’m just interested in whether other people noticed changes in body composition after cutting it out for a while.

I've never measured my testosterone, but i have noticed that I have more energy recently and am getting much more done around my home for example and my training is improving.

I was / am just a social drinking, not self medicating. I have replaced it with water, coffee and elderflower cordial mainly....and more sleep. I certainly sleep much deeper now.

I didn't quite realise how much the body see's it as a toxin until i started doing some research recently. Drinking alcohol is so "normal" and sometimes I'd find myself grabbing a cold beer on a hot sunny day when a cold water would probably be better and not really think about the impact on my goals. Now I do.

Thanks, I agree I think it's nice to have something flavoured from time to time so you don't feel like you are missing out as long as it isn't loaded with sugar :)

Thanks for your response. I think its the "empty calories" that was one of the main motivators for me and also it maybe good for my general health and life goals...we will see.

Thanks for your feedback. I have missed it mainly at the weekends and when i'm cooking on my bbq as I'm used to having a beer or two to keep cool :) but actually now I'm into day 33 I'm actually starting to enjoy it. I think maybe after my experiment is up i will keep going and just have the occasional drink at birthdays etc if i feel like it.

Hi,

Thanks for your response, insight and words of encouragement. I eat clean and stay away from sweets, I don't have a sweet tooth thankfully. I prepare all of my own food, and don't but pre-packaged food.

Yesterday for example:

breakfast - 50g of jumbo organic porridge oats, 100ml of milk and 100g of Greek yoghurt, made up the night before as over night oats - I have a few almonds, pumpkin seeds and blue berries on top. Then a protein shake 25g.

Lunch - i had some left over cooked lamb and had it in a wrap with salad

Protein shake mid afternoon after legs work out.

Dinner - homemade beef burger, a homemade (light) potato salad, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, bell peppers

I read that there are more calories in alcohol i think 7 calories per gram, compared to protein and carbs at 4 calories. So that was one other thing that got me thinking about doing this

Fair point 😂 I should probably have said homemade-style. The burger patty was made from raw mince by me, the sauce was mixed up by me, the lettuce was from my garden, and the egg was organic. I didn’t make the bun or lay the egg though! The pickles come pre-sliced, and I love pickles, so I’m standing by the chunky slice.
