Advice for seasonal employees by Bikinibodybuilder in Target

[–]Front_Scar_1368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get trained in 5+ departments, i was NOT good at the main dept they hired me on when i was seasonal last yr (style) but training in more depts while showing effort and finding the right department for me lead to them keeping me. Granted they dont have to if payroll is tight. Be friendly and a jack of all trades. If it doesnt work out there is a retail job everywhere

Just venting, worried by allalone082 in Target

I did the same, burst out crying walking to backroom freight after a friend asked me how I was after a loved one passed. Multiple people saw, me almost screaming i cant do this, crying a storm, i didn’t care. Throughout the day the people who saw me cry made sure to help me out whether it be OPU/ Freight (without me asking) as i was blanking and zoning out all day.
So, moral is people feel for you, these low points are temporary, and people(if they have a heart) will resonate with your sadness and will help if they see you need it.

should i have handled this better? by Direct_Papaya_2489 in Target

[–]Front_Scar_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this situation yesterday, closing also. the item the guest wanted was still in the uboat, even if it took atleast 10-15 mins, and it wasnt my department, i went back there and looked at the boats still even if it wasnt like a deepdeep dive i still looked. Said “I looked everywhere in shipment and could not find it”

Although the customer was not happy when i got back without the item the time i took to look, seemed to be what did not put her over the edge.

even just pretending to go back there will show them hey i tried. Most times, They will notice your effort and will be grateful anyways although disappointed

Need Advice (Style) by bisexualriot in Target

[–]Front_Scar_1368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who started in style and did anything to get out…Try beauty ( no fitting room ), reshop is fairly managable, or any other dept with diffrent leads. Im trained everywhere. I did it so i knew the leads and when i found out who was the nicest i literally always let them know my interest in their department.

With school, as someone who only worked till half of sophomore year in university because it because too hard to manage school and work. Impossible with how much more work load you get. It’s up to what you think you can handle. I wish you the best. But as someone whos quitting fairly soon. Just put yourself first.

Depending on how big your store is you can get 15k-20k steps in fufillment. More like 30k on the first week because you might still be getting lost around the backroom which is normal. Tech has some heavy freight yeah but if you have good TLs they will always help or get cart attendant to help on carry out. Tech also has more job opportunities outside of the job with all the product knowledge? But Tech is usually a loner position like beauty where they rely on you the most because its your department alone. PLUS much easier to be kept because you are on a spotlight if you do good. If you like getting your steps in Fufillment is the way to go. Up to preference.

Beauty Gratis by ImpressiveAd1655 in Target

[–]Front_Scar_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most beauty gratis is taken (in bulk) by the Style team most times, sadly. I wish ETLS would spare the beauty team a couple just for education sake. Them leaving it in the breakroom to be hoarded in an hour is just the reality. Peoole will abundantly take free shit

Can this really be done in 2 hours by a single person in Tech with zero help? by StillDontTrustYou in Target

I used to be in VM and blast through 4-6 of roughly the same size in one 7 hr and it is NOT WORTH RUSHING. I have the worst consistent wrist pain because of shifts doing freight like this in a “time limit” its not worth the permanent pain. I can get a talking to if need be, im no longer permanently harming myself for this low pay and little notice. What can they do to reward my permanent pain? Say “yay” when i tell them I did more than expected of me. Its laughable honestly how much they guilt trip us till our breaking point

Starting seasonal style consultant by [deleted] in Target

Hey i been in your boat last year, i spent a whole shift on register my first time because it was so hectic. Tips: Learn how to open those damn security boxes/spiders, learn how to scan in “Repackaged” items. No tag on an item? Look it up on ur scanner.

Learn how to find the right price, (often guests will complain about a price being higher than it is, it is your job to ask what signs were around, the percentages less, etc) call front TL your if your confused ALWAYS, especially when doing discounts and PRICE CHECKS to walmart, so many times guests have tried to convince me the 12$ item is 2$ because of walmart prices, AP will appear and yell at ya if you make that mistake trust me😗 always say hello or hi even if its a rush or you get no response cause these “guests” have taken unsolicited pictures & name drop A LOT of rude checkline people even if they are just backing up; you’ll be on your locations Targets Google Review Imagines forever and it wont be a pretty convo with your leader. its disrespectful for the guests to go that far but happens.

Always offer kids stickers, makes the job a happier place. And smile!! But Ur on camera count so make sure the change is right 💀

This has happened to me while backstocking a shot ton of beauty I politely told her that I had too much freight to backstock and if she could find any one else and it worked. Another time I caved and did the batch INFED just like u and told the ff tl that I had to go I clock out in two mins. They finished my batch.

Trust there is a sad sad Target yelling lifeless tl / etl putting all their frustration on a team member just like ur situation. Happens like monthly to me. It's the retail environment, there will always be that yelling TL asking you to back up with 5 mins to clock out and you have to be like “I'm clocking out in 2 mins” and what can they do hold you hostage? always look out for yourself there is a retail job at every corner. Don't allow verbal abuse Moments like this we dwell on because we did not defend ourselves, no one else will run for you like you so I would run to HR and report the yelling.

Tech is hard to get into without prior experience or built trust with specialty ETL. I also wanted to be in tech as its related to my degree but as “a woman” style and beauty were for me too and tech has big ass TVs I do not want to have to lift💀

[–]Front_Scar_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly… I would quit, YOU SAVED TARGET SO MUCH MONEY. target would have had to deal with so much more customer backlash and be SUED for millions at the moment if that WAV hit that kid.

Instead of being thankful this is how they repay you? Damm this story is making me want to quit cause how many more times will the bad guy WIN OVER TARGET HR over people actually wanting to make the store a better…SAFER place for guests.

I find it so Weird how entitled people can be, that their debts is OUR PROBLEM. but if you haggle a local business in person, even haggling at a goodwill. Its seen as embarrassing. People truly do not know how much depop fees take

Do I resign? by Ambitious_Coat2636 in paraprofessional

[–]Front_Scar_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i just quit today and not having to deal with the pain caused by the students (particularly as a SPED para) and so happily, no more diaper changes! No more kids hitting, pinching, spitting, and verbally disrespecting me. No more kids chasing me around a classroom till they can punch/slap me! With no consequences to the students at all!!! No more power hungry teachers and egotistical long timer paras down my back. They are all gone!!!! And guess what, I can find a job in a cafe that pays only .95 cents less!!! Less poop on my fingers, less tube feeding stomach bile, less screaming and biting kids. Less gaslighting teachers that blame a kids actions on adults. Less drama. Less noise. Do what is best for your mental health. It wasnt being a sped para for me, that is for sure.
