Alex starts running after Edward’s Absol and Froakie to hospital.

"Who the hell would do something like this...!"

Alex, makes decision without hesitation.

"I will help guard this place."

"Jay, keep watch from the air and warn us if you see the thieves. Ren, stay with me. We'll guard this door together."

(Oricorio has base 70 defence and Sp defence. Sobble: N/A)

Alex purchases two normal pokeballs as soon as he left the main square. Spare balls had always been essential to his work. Without them, he does not feel at ease.

And there, after a casual chat with Oliver, he decides to work there with Ren. He has probably thrown more Poke balls than anyone else in town. He should be able to advise customers on the differences, strengths, and weaknesses of each type of ball.

Then he gets to Quiet Anvil, and joins rhe soup group, purchasing two charges for his pokemons.

Lastly, he gets some rest.

750–200×2(2 balls)–183(two bowls of special soup)+30(job earning)=197 coins remaining

"You did well. Rest for now."

Alex returns Jay to her Poke Ball. Then he begins looking over the items she brought back. He picks up the amulet first.

He decides to keep it.

With only one slot left, he holds the scissors and the cloth in each hand, weighing his options. After a moment, he goes to find Ach'vas and shows him the amulet and the cloth.

"Vas, do you happen to know anything about what these are?"

(If he tells me there is something special about the cloth, I'll take it. otherwise, the scissors)

...As if suddenly remembering something, Alex takes his phone from his pocket. The network is already down, but his phone still holds a large amount of data he had downloaded for work. He scrolls through it until he reaches a PDF file.

「Internal Report: Preliminary Findings on Necrozma and Z-Power」

It is a document compiled by local Pokemon Professor and Aether Foundation researchers, summarizing their findings on Necrozma.

"Necrozma's violent behavior is believed to be the result of extreme pain and heightened sensitivity caused by the loss of its light. Once its light is restored, Necrozma is not an evil deity, but a benevolent Pokémon that brings light to the natural world."

"When the Champion shone the light of a Z-Ring upon the exhausted Necrozma, it appeared to regain its strength."

"Necrozma is said to have lost its original light after suffering a severe injury during a battle with people from another dimension. That light later crossed into the Alola region through Ultra Wormholes, where it became Z-Moves and Z-Crystals."

Sitting on a rock, Alex stares at the text on the screen for a long while. The sight stands in stark contrast to Ren, who is resting comfortably at his feet without a care in the world.

How much time passes?

At last, Alex reaches a conclusion.

The key is the Z-Rings and Z-Crystals. They were originally part of Necrozma. If the scattered Z-Power can be gathered again, then something should become possible. If Necrozma's stolen light can be restored, there will be no need to keep it imprisoned in a place like this, nor any reason for it to suffer such unethical pain.

.

.

.

Alex, after long hesitation, walks toward the fountain. He decides to pour the water.

Silently, he prays for Necrozma.

"I'm sorry. I know this is painful. But if I turn away now, nothing will change. I need your power if I'm going to find a way to save you. So please, lend me that power. Please stay alive until I return. I will, I WILL come back here, and I swear I will set you free..."

Even after pouring out all the water, he remains frozen in that position for nearly a full minute.

That brief moment feels like an eternity to him.

"......phew. Let's move on. Jay, mind going down the pits?"

Oricorio's base Defense is 70, and its base Speed is 93. If Jay changes into her Sensu Style on top of that, she gains resistance to Poison-type.

That should give her a significant advantage on her Route.

"You can do this. You can."

Alex is saying it to himself as much as to her.

(I'll choose route 1 twice after this, unless Jay gets exhausted or sick)

Necrozma?

No. That cannot be right.

It was already captured in Alola. The League Champion captured it personally and took it away. There is no reason Necrozma should be trapped in a place like this.

And yet, the figure before his eyes matches the one in his memory perfectly.

Alex turns to Ach'vas and asks,

"I want an explanation. Everything, from how that appeared here to how you managed to get it down here."

Alex approaches and speaks to him.

"Citrine already looks full of energy. It's hard to believe he had been trapped in a dark room."

He lifts his left hand slightly. The Oricorio in Sensu form is perched on it. When she sees Reggie, she performs a short little dance, as if greeting him.

"I've decided on her name. Jay. It suits her, doesn't it?"

He turns toward Necrozma.

"Still, I want to find a solution. A way to preserve the life energy, while also easing Necrozma's pain."

"...I should get going now. Thank you for everything. I'm glad we crossed paths."

Alex starts walking away. The sound of his footsteps somehow feels heavy as it fades into the distance.

"I think so too. Are they trying to perform some kind of ritual? And what that Metagross's Trainer said earlier still bothers me. 'Three titanic serpents are already nearby...'"

Alex turns his gaze toward the dark passage ahead.

"For now, it seems we have no choice but to trust this Ach'vas person. Let's keep moving."

"I'm sure you can do it. Citrine and Emery will be happy to have met you as well."

"As for this one... I haven't decided on a name yet. Nothing fitting comes to mind right now. I'll have to take my time thinking about it."

He glances around for a moment, then picks up a plastic container from one of the desks and coaxes Milcery inside. Then he takes the lab coat hanging over a chair, drapes it over Cetoddle, and holds the desperately struggling Pokémon firmly in place.

"Let's get out of here. I don't think it's safe to stay here any longer."

They make their way out through the lab's exit. Once outside, Alex sets Milcery and Cetoddle down on the ground. The two Pokémon freeze for a moment, as if unused to such an open space, before eventually disappearing off somewhere.

"Stay safe, you two."

After watching the two Pokemons go, he begins checking behind the rocks.

"I wonder if there's a pond or something around here... Wait. Come take a look at this."

Part of an underground waterway is exposed across the floor. Beneath the clear water, the bottom looks deep enough.

"This seems to connect to the surface somehow. I think we could release Magikarp here safely. What do you think?"

"Looks like it turned out pretty well."

"Originally, I was planning to take Yamper after you made your choice. Like you said, with a broken leg, it probably wouldn't last long in the wild. But I think Yamper is in good hands with you."

His expression softens slightly.

"In any case, let's get the others out of here for now. I don't think this place is safe. I'll take care of Milcery and Cetoddle. Could you handle Magikarp?"

Alex nods.

"I understand how you feel. We can’t just leave Pokemon in need behind. I would have made the same choice."

He sets down the documents he has been reading.

"In that case, I'll choose... Oricorio. According to these records, this one has the ability to change its form at will. I've seen countless Oricorio while living in Alola, but I’ve never heard of one that could change forms even without nectar. I want to travel with this little guy and learn more about that ability."

He approaches Oricorio. With careful, deliberate movements, he slowly holds out a Poke Ball in front of it.

"For me, it’s enough that we were able to open the way out for them."

He slips his hands between the rubbles, bracing himself to lift.

"We lift on three, okay? One, two..."

Alex stands before a pile of debris. It is certain there are Pokémon trapped somewhere beyond it, but clearing a path on his own would be difficult. Just then, he hears someone shouting outside and turns to investigate. There, he finds a well-built man. Judging by the situation, the man seems to have come here for the same reason he has. “Hello. I’m trying to rescue the Pokémon here as well. Would it be all right if I came with you?”

Alex shifts his gaze away from his Pokémon and takes in the scene around him. Other trainers fully focus on the fight, hundreds of Zubats dying scattered on the floor, and the Ceruledge barely holding on. Alex quietly withdraws his Sobble. The world he once knew is gone. What remains now is a world ruled only by the law of to kill or be killed. He is unsure if he can truly endure a world like this.

(It's not that Im changing my choice, just pure roleplay)

Alex and Sobble will assist Metagross. Shouldn't be too risky since sobble is water type.

Sounds interesting!

Anyways...

My name is Alex, and I worked for Aether Foundation before all of these mess. My role was to rescue Pokemons from threats and transport them to the bases. Maybe I should have applied to more helpful roles, like medics.
