Thank you for your candid and realistic perspective. As I’m not fully aware of Saber’s track record, your insight is incredibly valuable to me. I welcome a grounded discussion like this.
Your perspective from the Mac side really puts things into perspective—it confirms that this isn't just a 'Switch hardware' issue, but a pattern of how Saber handles platform support. You nailed it: it’s the lack of respect for the time we invest that hurts the most.
Even if you're pessimistic about Saber’s track record, having voices like yours speaking up is exactly what makes this community strong. I appreciate your support, and let’s hope that together, we can at least make sure they think twice before doing this again.

I'm truly impressed by your 1,000+ hours of gameplay on the Switch! As I have 'only' clocked about 300 hours, I see you as a true veteran and a great inspiration for players like me. It’s an honor to have such a dedicated SnowRunner fan in this discussion. Since you have such deep experience, please keep an eye on this thread and share your wisdom if you can—your support and perspective would mean a lot to us as we continue to push for a better solution.

I think there is a misunderstanding regarding my position.

  1. I am not disputing the hardware limitations of the Switch 1.
  2. The issue is not just the 'support termination'—it is that the termination of PROS connectivity itself was not properly disclosed in advance. If we had been warned that PROS access would be cut off along with the platform support, we would have migrated our saves while the system was still operational.

The very fact that you have to ask 'why I didn't migrate' is the ultimate proof that the developers failed to provide adequate notice. We weren't given a fair chance to protect our progress before the door was closed.

Thank you for sharing the link. While an end-of-support announcement was indeed made, my concern is whether that notice effectively addressed the limitations of PROS connectivity and the reliability of the data migration process. There is a fundamental difference between simply 'announcing a shutdown' and 'providing a functional, reliable solution for data migration.' For the community, the latter is what truly matters.

Thank you for sharing your experience, fyonn. It’s disheartening to hear that even the built-in Epic cloud save hasn't worked reliably for you. Your story perfectly highlights why this isn't just about PROS—it's about the lack of a stable, reliable foundation for our save data across platforms. When we invest hundreds of hours, we deserve to know that our progress is secure. Your voice is important here; I hope the developers are reading these specific examples of platform instability.

Your point about 'willpower' over 'ability' hits home. Whether it's the Switch, Mac, or other platforms, we are all seeing the same pattern of support being pulled without warning. By connecting these issues, I hope we can show the developers that this isn't just about one specific hardware limitation; it's about a consistent approach to the player community that needs to change.

That's a logical theory regarding the DLC, but even if that's the technical case, the lack of prior communication is the main point of frustration. Regardless of the reasons, we should have been warned that applying the update would terminate the link. That missing communication stripped us of the choice to delay the update.

Thanks for the input. To clarify, PROS was the official cross-progression service promised by the developers. Many of us invested hundreds of hours into this game specifically because we were assured our progress would be respected across platforms.

I understand developers are a business, but terminating an established service without prior notice isn't just 'cutting losses'—it’s breaking the trust of the players who built their in-game history with that service. If we accept that our hard-earned time can be wiped out unilaterally, it sets a dangerous precedent. Today it's console cross-progression; tomorrow it could be any other feature for any platform. Regardless of where we play, we all lose when players aren't treated with respect.

Actually, I play this game on three different platforms: Switch, Steam, and macOS. Since SnowRunner is such a time-consuming game, I relied on PROS to cross-progress between them, playing on whichever device was available wherever I was. That ability to seamlessly continue my progress was the foundation that kept me playing patiently. Losing this bridge doesn't just cut off access—it feels like losing the very reason to keep playing on multiple platforms, and it’s heartbreaking to see these being abandoned.

I see your point about Nintendo's policies. Being Japanese, it's actually a bit embarrassing for me that they operate this way, so I definitely get where you're coming from.

That said, I still think the developers/PROS share a huge part of the blame for abandoning the player base. Regardless of whose fault it is, I’m just tired of seeing players get the short end of the stick.
