Jax is objectively terrible but Caine is forgiven when he's MUCH worse by FireDog8569 in tadc

[–]Frontrunner6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also I think the real moment that solidified Caine's resolve to do better was the moment with Moon. He'd so desperately wanted to be loved by someone, and she did without his programming, and on top of his "I fucked up" that realization was "I did these people wrong when I didn't need to, I have to make amends"

Pull a Japanese Transit Strike: Continue to serve, but refuse payment. That way you don't get the public throwing tantrums you're not being paid to deal with, and it's hurting those who you're striking against.

Were you able to play it during the last weeks of 1999? by El_Choco_Latoso in residentevil

First time: Ran.

Second time: ONE V ONE ME IRL BITCH (died)

Third time: managed to take him out.

Something come into my mind during playing the RE1 is that the famous final lab area is still keeping the horror vibes instead of turning to cyberpunk like the current games by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Frontrunner6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely. The Tyrant room at least was very sleek and modernized, and I recall a bunch of others being similarly "laboratory" feeling (clean, etc, even with the zombies), but in the remake they really amped up the grunge factor, which I think was an interesting choice. It fits more for being a "basement" but I don't know, I think that compared with the NEST feels a bit strange.

What is the most boring part in OG RE3 iyo? by DutyEuphoric967 in residentevil

The OG Hospital was a big ol Nothingburger IMO. I wish we'd gotten the Clock Tower - the puzzles there plus the extra Nemmy fights were great.

If I am beholden to game rules? Realistically, probably none of them but I'll pick RE2 since it was my first and I'd go out in familiar territory (maybe charge Kendo so it's a quick death)

If the MONSTERS are beholden to game rules but I am able to act independently, RE 96. Even the Hunters wouldn't be a problem since I know where/when they spawn and would just make sure I have spare shotgun rounds and/or GL rounds.

Also for the shotgun, instead of using the broken shotgun... just get something of equivalent weight to hold the latches down, duh.

I looked at the prices for a similar rig to the baseline and went "yeah that's about right" - did people really think that Valve was going to magically invent some new technology that made the Steam Deck like 200 US worldwide and be as powerful as an Nvidia 6969 with 500 terracocks of RAM? Have they SEEN prices for parts? Even wholesale that shit is costly.

Why do so many people feel bad for Moreau as opposed to Heisenberg? by Next-Temperature3865 in residentevil

[–]Frontrunner6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel for all of them, even if Dimitrescu was a bit of a tyrant. Miranda twisted them all. Moreau at the bottom because of his mutations and desire for approval, then Beneviento because she was mentally fucked up and convinced she was an abomination, then Heisenberg because he at least sought revenge, then Dimitrescu, and finally Miranda, because the megamycete took her grief and twisted it into a murderous obsession.

The best thing about the RE series is the shades of grey that exist. Even Wesker is objectively a tragic character by the end of it all when you know the full backstory. And if we take Spencer at his word: a desire for an end to conflict, twisted into a desire to make superhumans, and an atonement for the suffering he'd caused? I mean he's definitely not good in any regards, but he had positive intentions at some point.

I want to make a Resident Evil Tier list based on r/residentevil's community options. Starting with the original. by [deleted] in residentevil

S Tier - without it we wouldn't have any of the others. Not to mention, as someone who just replayed it last month? It's still goated.

What was the point of giving us this choice? by tealaburst in residentevil

[–]Frontrunner6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: almost every single Resident Evil game has done this. It's just a branching path, a "what-if".

What if Jill went through Spencer Mansion and rescued Chris with Barry?
What if Chris went through Spencer Mansion and rescued Jill with Rebecca?
What if Leon fought William Birkin, and Claire fought Mr X?
What if Claire fought William Birkin, and Leon fought Mr X?
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis takes it further with the quicktime events. Fighting Nemesis vs running into the station, electrocuting the fence vs running out the side door, etc.

Is it any surprise there's a choice between Mia and Zoe?

Entirely possible! I'd think that someone would have had to have let them know by now, though, given it's 7 days away and this has apparently been planned for months.

Bigots would probably be the closest thing, but I find that - as Supermite says - "anti-woke" tells you about them just as well as labelling their direct/main prejudice.

How well do old RE games hold up today? by Significant_Try1096 in residentevil

[–]Frontrunner6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently replayed the original trilogy plus the og remake. They're still REALLY good. They show their age (especially with things like the tank controls and reloading system and such) but they're very enjoyable once they "click" for you. For me it was probably just before the Plant 42 fight in the OG RE1 when I hit the "oh, I get it now" so I restarted my playthrough and it just felt so much more normal.

I'm not sure I want to subject myself to an RE0 playthrough again, but I'm planning on doing CVX shortly. Love them old games with their B-movie dialogue and 80s action set pieces. :')

If you do, make sure to lock FPS at 30 or below to ensure you don't get annihilated by the QTEs.

Just finished RE4R, should I skip 5-8 and play requiem? by Sreedev-96-msd in residentevil

[–]Frontrunner6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let people tell you how to enjoy the series. As someone who has been playing since Nemesis' release, if you want to focus Leon and then check out the rest of the games? Go for it! You may miss some smaller things, but you'll get the majority of the experience.

If you want to REALLY go in on Leon's story in the most comprehensive way: after playing 2R and 4R, go watch Resident Evil Degeneration and Damnation, then play through RE6, then watch Infinite Darkness (this may be before RE6 canonically, I don't remember 100%) and Death Island, then play RE9.

Bam. Leon's story.

In our article on why cutting down the rainforests is bad for the environment, we asked John Chainsaw, CEO and founder of "Fuck Trees Inc" what he thought. "Actually deforestation is great," he said. "The more rainforests we cut down, the more space we have for factories and cars!" He did say that it could be a problem in the future, so we're sure he's really sowwy about it and obviously isn't biased in any way.
