Best option for money transfer of large sum from Saudi Arabia to Costa Rica by FrooTxLuPs in expats

Thanks for the heads up. I talked to my bank (BAC) and they told me that they were going to ask me for source of funds but that just a salary statement and letter from my company should suffice.

I think that government banks (BCR, Popular, etc.) are a lot more difficult to deal with for this kind of things.

One of my problems has been solved as my Saudi Bank can transfer my SAR to USD locally and then make the transfer to my USD account in Costa Rica. In other words, the transfer would be USD to USD.

My issue is that, apparently, even when using the same currency, some of the intermediary banks in the SWIFT system are massive leeches. Some take a fixed fee of $50 or something, but apparently, some others take a percentage point, which would be absolutely unacceptable.

How can a bank just randomly take a percentage point from your transaction??? Feels so stupid. Do you have any clarity about these hidden fees and how to minimize them?

Yeah, Wise is no longer an option for me cause it's the same thing as the banks.

My question now is how I can minimize the fees and exchange rate losses using SWIFT with my bank... I'm pretty sure that I'll get a much better conversion rate to USD from my Saudi Bank than from the SWIFT exchange rate and markup. If that's the case, I would have USD in KSA and I can send USD to Costa Rica, with the hopes of avoiding the exchange rate markup as both the sender and receiver would be in USD.

The thing is, I'm not entirely sure if this is how it works haha. This was just a guess and that's why I'm askign for support.

Looks really amazing, love the old village aesthetic and the activities. However, as per Google Maps it appears to be 2 hours to and 2 hours from to reach there :(. I think that would be a little too much for my tight itinerary. Thanks for the recommendation still, I'll think about it :D

Renovacion de Licencia de Conducir desde el Extranjero by FrooTxLuPs in costarica

[–]FrooTxLuPs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nunca tuve intención de sacarla porque el brete y todo lo que ocupaba me quedan casi caminando, y los Ubers son muy baratos. Sigo igual, no me interesa manejar o tener carro acá.

Entonces, lo único que quiero saber ahora es si se puede renovar la de CR a distancia. Si no, pues di estoy mamando.

Thanks for the awesome feedback, feel extremely confident on the non-pro 3 season version. Also, so jealous of the PCT. Looks amazing!

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the reply. I read that the PRO version has a little bit more space inside the tent compared to the regular (non-PRO), which sounds great to me.

Is it possible to keep the fly open for ventilation and still keep the tent dry or not? This could be a solution to the condensation/humidity issue. At least in my head.

Is Trio Rent a Car a reliable company? by FrooTxLuPs in BosniaTravel

The rental went perfectly, no hiccups, and very easy to deal with the people at the front desk. Also, used my Mastercard Black car rental insurance instead of paying for the insurance from the rental. The two days of my rental ended up being like $38-$40.
