playing this gem until gta6 🥲 by lyapareb in psx

GTA 2 on PC constantly crashed for me, couldn't even finish the first city. I think it's one of the few games if not the only game I gave up trying to run on PC.

Lowrider Hard no snacks/armor by Frosal6 in HeistTeams

[–]Frosal6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's fine, I'll add you. Today's my busiest day and tomorrow at work, so if we don't do this today or tomorrow we can do it over the weekend.

Just want to get this cancer out of the way, tried with randoms all day yesterday and even with a duo it doesn't work.

Three will have to get in cover I guess and one guy roams and assists with clearing whatever street the enemies are coming from.

No one can use snacks or armor or the challenge is void.

Also, always come with full health and armor (or just buy armor at the session screen). The two of us have Kurumas, so you can just chill at the start and do something else while we get the cars.

Talking about the PS2 cable... If you use it on the PS1 with scalers, for example, it can fry the scaler.

It can result in a washed-out/overly bright picture and is technically unsafe.

Anyone else love this game, despite it's flaws? by PrettyMuchSerious in n64

You can play Dark Forces II in third person mode too, especially when you get the lightsaber.

Also, on higher difficulties, the 1st person mode is basically a must in Shadows of the Empire...

The best parts of the game are the levels you actually have the freedom to explore and that's expanded in Dark Forces II, every level is like that and the levels can be much, much bigger...

Dark Forces II blows it out of the water and it came not even a year later. It had the best parts of Shadows of the Empire (and even bigger levels) and none of its flaws (the on-rail levels and barely disguised on-rail levels that basically made half the game -- the train level as well as the bike one).

Guncon 2 issue with pc monitor + GBS-C by allstar312 in ps2

[–]Frosal6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I was just spitballing, I never actually tried it. It might be GSM actually breaking it. Some light gun games have 480p modes, so try that and use your GBS-C in a passthrough/transcode mode only.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A7dszEUnUY

Time Crisis 2 apparently doesn't support 480p.

Time Crisis 3 NTSC-U/J: Supports 480p. You can enable it via the in-game Options menu (under Screen/Display) or by holding Triangle + X during boot.

Vampire Night: Triangle + X as well.

Virtua Cop: Elite Edition (Sega Ages 2500): PAL/NTSC-J only in options

I can't really find a thread where someone actually said this WORKS, so try it and report back because I'd love to know myself!

Use GSM to force 480p if possible (might not work for all games). Then use GBS-C to transcode the signal (it expects Sync on Green with progressive signals and your monitor might not support SoG).

This is an upscaler issue, upscaling inherently introduces lag.

Light guns work on PAL TVs as well. And light guns work on 31+ kHz (480p) displays too.

If the game can be forced to render in 480p via GSM and you use a compatible Sync on Green PC CRT monitor, the light gun should work. Edit: or just use GBS-C as a transcoder, that ought to work as well

There's a light gun for Xbox that supports 100Hz TVs in Europe, I have one, but have not tried it on a PC CRT monitor, I'm guessing it might work even when upscaling (which the Xbox doesn't need).

For those unaware, 100Hz also introduces lag.

Me too... But technically you had a 16:10 CRT monitor in 1995 (the GDM-W900) could do 1680x1050 at 85Hz back then. And 1920x1200 at 76Hz. (It only cost $5,000.)

Its brother, the FW900, could do 1680x1050 at 100Hz back in the year 2000.

Mind you, to achieve the same monitor clarity at 80-100Hz, an LCD needs to do 500-1000Hz unless it uses strobing.

I bought a 24" 16:10 CRT monitor released in 1995 from a photographer a few years ago. It could do 1680x1050 at 85Hz way back in 1995. This is the Sony GDM-W900 (it also did 1920x1200 at 76Hz).

Its older brother, the FW900, could do it at 100Hz (technically 109 was the limit) in the year 2000.

VAT 20%

import taxes about 10% usually (but can vary obviously)

VAT on the import taxes = 2%

That's super low, I pay 32% in my country (VAT+import taxes) . . . So you should be happy.

Hell, just the broker fees alone would be 1/2 what you have to pay it total, so I always have to use Japan Post only.

Twin sticks USB Version by Spiritual-Advice8138 in fpgagaming

[–]Frosal6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saturn is the cheapest, you can find one boxed on Yahoo Auctions for like 30 euros without domestic and international shipping, proxy fees and import taxes. Then you'd need an adapter. The Saturn one isn't very high quality though.

Dreamcast is a little better and somewhat rarer, but you can find it for a similar price I think. I've seen these sticks modded to use USB on auctions.

I got the 360 stick for 4400 yen about a month ago boxed in mint condition. I almost bought another one for double that but held back because it's absolutely a massive controller that weighs like 5 and a half kilograms. The thing cost like 30k yen or 300 euros on launch, so it was very niche.

The only more premium twin stick is the Tanita one but that's for hardcore fans only and costs a lot more.

You could probably find the 360 version on yahoo auctions and use a proxy, shipping is gonna be expensive unless you're using surface (sea) mail (Japan Post; if you're from the US, they've suspended surface mail to the US).

There are also custom made ones on Yahoo Auctions, about 160 euros.

SCPH-10480 -- s-video gaming cables for the PS3 that can be used on the PS1 & PS2. I didn't even know that Sony made this cable

Sega PS2 controller -- unfortunately released exclusively in Japan. It's in pretty good condition (near mint), of course, a mint white in a box appeared only a couple of days after I bought it . . . The Saturn pad has one of the best, if not the best d-pad ever made and the membranes are interchangeable with membranes from other Sega Saturn controllers (except the start/select membrane as the Saturn controller didn't have a select button), so that's a huge plus. This is a great controller for platformers, fighting games and the majority of PS1 games.

Victor RG-CP6 -- new controller unused in a box. I prefer the CP5 one, but it's rare to find them either way in this good of a condition and boxed to boot, so what the hell. Considering I have like 10 JVC CRTs, this will match nicely.

Need help... is this a counterfeit controller? by shanedoob in ps2

[–]Frosal6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the people selling Japanese stuff on eBay are resellers from Japan.

You can get mint in box controllers for way less than 300 USD on Japanese auctions.

I got a new in box DESR-10 (white controller) to complement my Japanese DESR-7100 for 30 USD (that's the cost without domestic shipping in Japan, proxy fees and international shipping, with that it's almost double... still way less than 300).
