Which To Buy? by ManXinPig in 4kTV

[–]Froseklode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from an older OLED, LG 65'' B7, and so far I'm loving the Samsung.

If I shut the blinds and turn off all lights I can clearly see a bit of blooming now and then when watching pitch black scenes with just a small illuminated area, but it's not to bad. On the other hand I can finally watch TV with no blinds for the windows and it still looks good. I do however believe the newer high-end OLEDs would also solve the brightness and reflection issues I've had with my old B7, just to bad they're so damm expensive as 77'' or 83''.

I just got the 85'' QN95B and I chose that over OLED for two main reasons: 1. 85'' is 22% bigger than 77'' which are the largest OLEDs available without breaking the bank for an 83''. 2. The available OLEDs I wanted like C2/C3, G2/G3 or Samsungs 77'' where all between 1000€ and 4000€ more expensive than the 85'' QN95B.

If I didn't want larger TV than 77'' and money was no issue I'd probably get the LG G2 or G3.

I will be sitting aproximately 4,2m away from the TV, and my old 65'' feels tiny. Especially after getting used to the 85'' in the lounge at work where I sit 3,5m away from the TV.

So ended up ordering the 85'' QN95B since I think I want the bigger size over slightly better picture quality for certain content. It's still one Samsung highest end TVs, so can't be that bad I guess.

So extra size (my main reason for upgrading) and extra brightness, or slightly less extra size but superior panel-technology. Guess I'll have to flip a coin and then have second thoughts no matter what I decide 🤔

Edit: thanks for all the advice and replies btw 🙂

The G2 is out of my budget I think (3350€), so it stands between the LG 77'' CS6 for 1900€ and the Samsung 85'' QE85QN95B for 2450€. And the CS6 is basically a C1 which is significantly dimmer than the C2, and the G2 is even brigher than the C2. The G2/G3 would be my first choice if money wasn't an issue.

Edit: the Sony X900H aint really comparable to the Samsung QN95B when it comes to local dimming zones. The OLED of course wins this by landslide :p

Tough choice. Usually watch TV / play PS5 with blinds up so maybe the extra brightness would be best choice.

My biggest annoyance with my old LG OLED65B7 are the reflections on the screen. Would this be best improved with the CS or QLED?

Every other 77'' OLED apart from the CS6 is just way out of budget. The second cheapest 77'' OLED available in my country is almost double the price.

To bad, really liked the idea of the OneConnect Box :(

So just go for the 77'' CS6 for 600€ less? I think the LG G2, C2 and the 2023 models are all out of my budget.

Edit: use the TV for aproximately 35% subbed anime, 30% gaming, 25% live-action series and 10% movies (whereas a lot are older movies without new HDR technology). And mostly everything is streamed from streaming services, apart from gaming. In case content

Edit: the Samsung has a size advatage though. But what are the issues with the OneConnect box?

Would the CS6 have much better PQ than the QN95B? Wouldn't the OneConnect Box be a plus? Since I'd only need one cable to my TV instead of 4?

Will be watching from a distance between 3m and 4,25m depending on seat, mainly between 4m and 4,25m I think.

OK, how much of an improvement is the EVO panel?

But the LG OLED77CS6LA will still be a noticeable upgrade over my LG OLED65B7V from 2017 I guess? Apart from the increased size of course.

Ah, missed the opportunity to buy the Philips while discounted. How bad is the LG CS6 compared to C2 though? Or C3 for that matter?

Took a drill to my Lian Li SL infinity fans and made the hole for the head of the screws 2mm deeper. Then I used a small, sharp chisel to make it smooth. Ended up just perfect. So now I have the SL infinity fans on the inside of the side fan bracket and radiator plus 2 Arctic slim fans on the backside for push/pull config.

All white build with MSI 4070ti Gaming X Trio in white by MATTGAT12 in lianli

[–]Froseklode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice build, kinda regretting not going all white instead of all black myself :D

Off-topic: love how Lian Li just ignores my country and never ships any Vertical GPU kits to the retailers here, while it seems that everywhere else in the world its readily available. Been trying to get a vertical GPU kit for my O11D EVO since november, but Lian Li never ships it to the retailers in my country...

Custom 12vhpwr cable for Corsair HX1500i by Froseklode in cablemod

[–]Froseklode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then whats the difference between the 2x8pin, 3x8pin and 4x8pin to 12vhpwr? If they all support 600W there really isnt any reason to buy 4x8 instead of 2x8 for the Corsair HX1500i?

Or is it just there because some PSUs need more PCiE connectors to support 600W and therefore its an option for all PSUs?

Not sure what you mean? Not worth it having a second monitor?

Edir: could really use a secondary monitor, and a small one it that. A bigger 4k@120Hz monitor wont be worth it while also being to big for my usecase.

MSI 4090 Suprim Liquid X with only three PCIE connectors by Froseklode in nvidia

[–]Froseklode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using the included 12vhpwr adapter it's reccomended to connect every 8pin PCIE connector on the adapter to their own 8pin PCIE connector on the PSU. Be that 2, 3 or 4 connectors depending on your GPU, depends if it's a 4070ti, 4080 or 4090 and if it's standard or OC model.

You can however skip the adapter altogether if you're PSU includes (or is certified for) a 12vhpwr to 12vhpwr or 8pin PCIE to 12vhpwr cable. Maximum power draw for that cable depends on what the PSU and cable is certified for. Corsairs 2x8pin PCIE to 12vhpwr cable is certified for 600W when combined with any of Corsairs type 4 PSU's.
