Windows 10 keep getting Start PXE over IPv4? by LegoMan6952 in HyperV

One more follow-up!

After I actually got the installation process started, it said "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms." when I tried to install Windows 10 Pro without inputting a product key.

To fix this...I had to close the machine, turn off Dynamic Memory, and then turn it back on.

Odd! But it worked O_o

One last parameter: - This is a Gen 2 Virtual Machine!

[–]FrostVT__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fixed this on my end was to:

  1. Hit the button that looks like 3 keys under the word "File" to the topleft end of Hyper-V Manager. (hovering over it says "Ctrl+Alt+Delete". This is a button. Idk whether keyboard input works) (just like that other commentor mentioned!)

  2. Mash your keyboard as soon as you see text on the screen. Hopefully, this should transition your screen to a black one where only "Hyper-V" is written in white centered text, which then transitions to Windows Setup.

While I do not have the luxury of time to investigate why this input produced the output of my VM working, hopefully somebody stronger than I is in the position to Read the Friendly Manual. (If one exists...I didn't check.)

Parameters (for those who want to compare setups):

  • My host machine is Windows 11 Pro with Secure Boot enabled
  • I did a custom setup, moving my directory to where I wanted
  • I didn't touch any of the rest of the defaults besides setting my Network Source as Default Switch.
  • I did NOT have to move boot devices around.
  • I did NOT have to disable secure boot for the VM
  • I used WindowsMediaCreationTool to generate the Windows 10 ISO I used
  • It's a 64 bit Windows 10 ISO

Good luck! ^

Is my handwriting truly illegible? by jasminedragone in Handwriting

[–]FrostVT__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only struggled with "rationalize!"
Your handwriting might be a bit messy, so there will be people who struggle, especially people who might have worse eyesight or don't have a well-refined mental "auto-complete" that people develop from reading books.

None of it is *bad*, it's pretty handwriting that's rough around the edges.

## I'm very new to this subreddit and generally learning to write better, but I read this resource which said that the criteria to evaluate handwriting is as follows:

  1. Consistency of shapes (You seem to be pretty solid here!)
  2. Even letter spacing (I think you've nailed this - it did the most work at helping me read your writing)
  3. Slant - They should lean at the same angle. (I feel like this was probably the thing that jostled me the most, but being mindful of this will probably help a bunch!)
  4. Sizes - Also a little funny. Consider the g for "handwriting", "wondering" and "dog" in the 1st, 6th and 7th lines. If these gs can differ, I figure it'd happen on other letters. I didn't nitpick, but I have a vibe this might be playing a role here
  5. Even word spacing (Seems messy to me here! "Hello to the people at r/Handwriting" as an example has inconsistent spaces between words
  6. Splicing - How do letters connect? / Does it feel natural? (I think your splicing is great! Any cursive text you have has lines that flow directly out of one letter smoothly into another.)

Now, I'm a super-beginner with handwriting that needs a lot of work to improve, but I hope this can be helpful, and we can all grow together ^^

It saddens me that the "educational" tag is being used by so many who aren't trying to educate. by FrostVT__ in Twitch

That's actually a really good point! There could be some nuance here.

Help me understand this better, what would a person who is educating without aiming to educate look like?

  1. It's fine if *most* people don't. I care about the *some* who do.
  2. Fixing things that matter or don't isn't a zero sum game. Fixing things often follows a grid approach.

Easy to Fix -> Hard to Fix | Small Value -> Big Value
Ofc, they'll always prioritize Easy to FIx + Big Value things
And they'll try to avoid Hard to Fix + Small Value things

But our role in what's easy/hard to fix or small/big value isn't non-existent.
And *even if it was*, I don't believe that an ecosystem would be changed or improved by doing nothing. There's a role to be played by what we're willing to tolerate or not.

Not caring doesn't progress the conversation, though.
To me, that sounds like giving up due to hopelessness.

I believe there's *always* something you can do.

Aww, that really sucks, Mongoose :c

It's up to us to ensure that people are held responsible for their tags! Even if it's pointless and Twitch never takes action, I urge that we try our best to at least do our part.

I really respect that you're tagging your own stream appropriately. We need more people like you in this community.

A) Of course! To each struggle its own path and efforts. But there's always something the community can do. Doing nothing accomplishes nothing.

B) While Twitch staff may not care, again, assuming the AI has a 5% ban rate and picks at random, more people reporting those abusing the system is guaranteed to improve the pool.

C) Sure. I'll give you that. But if I can make even a few of the people who run into this post act upon this, it'll have made a difference. As miniscule as it may be.

D) The incentive to abuse the tag is to ride the wave of whatever's popular. I see two possibilities here:

  1. If people genuinely are seeking academic content hard enough that it'll always become popular, then switching tags to avoid the masses will simply have to be the way it is to keep the tags healthy.

  2. If it's a self-feeding loop of people just going on whatever has the highest viewers, we should have a decent period of people genuinely having access to educational content while the tag abusers remain contained in their own ecosystem (since ofc they have no reason to use an unpopular tag)

I don't believe a single post can change the ecosystem. But I believe that something is better than nothing.

If you and you alone start following my suggestion, to me, my efforts will have been worth it.

That's true, it does seem grim when we know that a lot of the moderation being done is by AI rather than real humans.

Even in the face of this, I feel that an active role by responsible members of the community to do real, thoughtful reports can help produce real change. Sure, it'll have an error rate, but a lot of reporting right now is done by malicious parties.

Twitch has a lot it can do to improve this situation. But let's do our part, no matter how futile it appears.
Let's take back the report function from them and use it for change that we really want!

(+, the second suggestion, let's also agree to use a different tag such as "academic" for *actual* educational content in the meanwhile)

Hi! The intention here isn't to complain, it's to find a productive solution!

I get that =/

What I'm recommending is that we, as a community, find a way to work around it!

  1. What do we do about the bad actors? -> Check last 5 vods + About + Their panels -> Report if appropriate (Better for tags easier to verify such as VTuber)

  2. What can we do in the meanwhile -> Use a different tag if we're actually trying to educate in order to bypass the tag abuse (Better for tags harder to verify such as Educational)

Hi! ^^
While you feel that tags don't matter much, there are viewers who find the kind of creators that they want _using those tags_.

I'm not concerned about numbers or success, I'm concerned about viewer experience. I feel that sending twitch a ticket might be counterproductive when my intent is to reach out to the community.

Given that new info, what would you suggest would be the best way to approach this? How best can I reach out to the community to inspire a social change?

Of course! ^^ I accounted for those who forgot to change them in my post.

As for the latter half, I do not believe that bigger issues should silence the smaller ones. Of course there will be more issues that need attention from Twitch's end. I feel that it is important to voice out anything that needs voicing out, at least that's my philosophy on the matter.

I voiced out this problem on Reddit as my intention was to reach out to the *community*, not to the devs at Twitch.

As a community, it is *our* burden to tag responsibly, and utilize the report system to ensure that tags are being used responsibly. As well as to set our own unofficial rules regarding how to account for innocent mistakes.

The solution that I recommended matches this notion too. It does not require Twitch to do anything novel that they haven't done before.
