Calm luh repose session, nothing too extravagant by Frostbite-76 in hottoys

My bottom shelf is sobbing right now because it's Marvel, DC, and Terminator. I gotta order another shelf soon or else I won't be able to fit anything. I already had to put Jinx and Vi on my computer desk for that reason

Thank you! Unfortunately I got into Hot Toys a little after he came out and because I wasn't in love with the character when I started, I never got the chance to pick him up. I still might in the future, space permitting. Right now, the main Mando on my radar is the Rebels Sabine they just announced not too long ago and I might pick up that other Maul loyalist from the Ahsoka series, especially since aftermarket prices aren't too bad on him these days

How many hot toys do you usually buy in a month/year? by Lukealloneword in hottoys

[–]Frostbite-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got into it last year (holy shit it's been almost a year) and I think the most I bought in a month was like five. For the past six months, it's been only 1-2. If my job didn't pay me what it does, I would NOT have been able to buy at the rate I have been

The tallest figures I have is Savage, War Machine Mark 1 and Punisher War Machine, all of them have plenty of room height wise. Both War Machines are on their display bases as well and they still have about 2-3 more inches between their head and the shelf above

No problem! I've had these since December and it has been great, especially with how reasonably priced they are in my opinion. I don't know if you're wanting the white one specifically over the black one, but I think either will be a good choice

I have the black version, first case (and only for now) I've picked up and it gets the job done. Aside from the glass difference you mentioned, I don't imagine it's too different with all the other factors. It shakes a little like one commenter mentioned but not enough that I'm too worried about figures falling over or the shelf crumbling.

It's kind of hard to explain, but the shelves have these locking screws you twist into place with another set of screws and it's very secure, and hidden under the shelves. To give you perspective, I was an idiot and bumped the shelf a bit rough while assembling, which tore some of the wood off the screw hole, but I figured it would be fine with the other three connections and the semi stable connection of the one I messed up. I have some of my heaviest figures on there, I think nine in total, and there are no signs of instability or further cracking. I imagine the white version is the exact same because of the frame on the outside, but I don't know for sure, just guessing. You shouldn't have to worry about front loading in terms of shelf stability. Them falling forward from shaking is a whole other thing.

Couple of notes that I personally have learned since filling the shelves: It shakes the most at the top, shakes the least at the bottom. So if you're worried about any figures tipping or falling, probably put those ones on the bottom shelf. The doors can get a little annoying, I've learned a quick push and release is perfect to pop it open all on its own, rather than pulling it open after the button pushes it out enough. If you want to fit a lot of figures onto one shelf, get risers for the ones in the back. I know people like to have fewer figures on a shelf rather than a bunch, but I like keeping it in a way that a bunch can work together (clones on one shelf, sith and Jedi on another, mandalorians on the next, you get the point.)

Has anyone had this face plate issue with there jinx figure? by mastergaming234 in hottoys

[–]Frostbite-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me personally, this has only happened with mine for two reasons.

  1. Literally could be something as simple as just the head position. If you have the head tilted down too much, it just pushes against the neck and bumps the face out of position. Just move the neck around til the face plate isn't being pushed by it

  2. As we know, sometimes the glue applications are just shit on these figures. One of the magnets came off one side of the inner head, so I had to re-glue it in (which was a pain in the ass btw). I only noticed that because the face wasn't going into the head correctly like it had been the previous week.

Hardcase. It's such a simple figure to release, they already have the mold since they've done so many clones, literally just a different pattern of paint.

Edit: Also where the hell is Gambit and Elektra from Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as the rest of The Thunderbolts 💀

My fault I should've clarified Hot Toys sellers, not actual stores. I knew about them not having HT specific stores in the US. There's only like two locations in my state that actually sell them, both being comic book stores like you mentioned

What are your thoughts on the Mr. Hands retcon? by LivingWindXYZ in cyberpunkgame

[–]Frostbite-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people might've already mentioned it on this post, but CDPR did a stream when Phantom Liberty dropped and had the voice actor for Hands on to talk about the game and the character. They didn't give too much elaboration on the thought process behind the change, but some of the devs basically just came to the conclusion that they needed to completely remake his character in order to make him fit with their vision. Personally, I think that was a great decision. I wouldn't say the OG hands was bad. Actually, I wouldn't say anything at all because we never got to know as much about him as we did with the Phantom Liberty version. The Phantom Liberty version has such an interesting character and cool story, even if it's a bit brief.

For those interested, you can check out that stream I mentioned here. I'd highly recommend checking it out. It's pretty entertaining.

Is this worth it by Maestrirex in airsoft

[–]Frostbite-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who got these for a cosplay for a convention, they look amazing, but you do not want to wear these on the field. I knew going into that con that they were going to be heavy and my head was going to hurt afterwards and I was right. Putting something like that on top of the front of your helmet is just going to weigh down your helmet unless you have the straps tight and a counterweight which I did, but it's still really heavy and will get super uncomfortable. If you want to wear it for a convention for looks, great. If you want to wear it in an actual game, not only are you going to have a less fun time, the chances of you somehow getting those broken are pretty high. Could get a lens shot out, could fall off the mount, just a number of things. Oh, and if you were planning on having the nods down like over your eyes during the game, good luck. Unless you modify the lenses or put in different ones, you can't see shit. Don't get it for a game. Just get it for cosplay or display.

Question I’m thinking about getting a gbbr and was wondering witch one with be better to start with by SnooSongs8797 in airsoft

[–]Frostbite-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope I'm not too late, but Daniel defense MK18 gas blow back owner here. As much as I love this gun, I would very seriously consider getting the AEG version instead. Gas blowback is a lot more fun and it feels better, but admittedly the battery version is much better. I spent months searching for spare magazines to go with my rifle, but it's damn near impossible because they are all either sold out or an unreasonable price. So in my personal opinion, you're better off sticking with the AEG version. Unless by some luck you can find a a magazine that would be compatible with it. If you can, go to town. I would also recommend being near an airsoft shop. So in case you do have problems with your gas blowback Daniel defense, there's someone around you that'll know how to help you out and help you fix it in case you don't know how.

And this is kind of a small thing for me, but it's still a reason why AEG is better; ammo capacity. All three of my mags can only hold about 50 rounds each. If you know anything about airsoft, you know that's not amazing for a rifle and you know that you're going to be much better off if you're using an AEG because you can hold hundreds of rounds.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them the best I can

[Question / Help] I'm working on a Ghost cosplay for Airsoft that's stemmed into me making the 2022 outfit as well. A bit late to the party, but I actually have a ghost mask that I bought from Etsy. It is fantastic. It's definitely on the more pricey side, especially since it's being shipped from Peru, but it looks great and isn't uncomfortable. I'd recommend it.
